Quote : | " On the same day Democratic leaders stressed party unity after the drawn-out primary fight, one congressional Democrat said Tuesday that he will not endorse Sen. Barack Obama's bid for the White House." |
Quote : | ""I think this is an important time for our country," he said. "We're facing a terrible economic downturn. We have high gasoline prices. We have problems in our foreign policy. That's why I think it's important."" |
Quote : | "The Obama camp disagreed with Boren's claims.
"Unfortunately, Congressman Boren has his facts wrong," spokeswoman Jen Psaki said. "Barack Obama has a long history of working across the aisle to get things done and make a difference for working people. He worked with Republicans in the Illinois Senate to provide health care for 150,000 children and parents who didn't have it, and in the U.S. Senate he's worked with some of the most conservative members -- including Congressman Boren's Republican colleague from Oklahoma, Tom Coburn -- to restore accountability and openness to our government and crack down on the special interests.

As I understand it this person is still going to vote for him at the convention, just not endorse him prior. 6/14/2008 10:28:24 AM |

I applaud the guy. If you are a democrat why should you be forced to fall in party line into supporting a candidate you do not like. Statistically it is assumptive that you would support your parties candidate but i find nothing wrong if on occasion have no problem showing some political balls enough to say you like the candidate of the other side or you disagree with something your parties person did.
This applies to both sides of the aisle esp. to repubs in congress blindly following bush before they lost the majority in the 06 election. 6/14/2008 11:00:10 AM |

I totally agree that politicians shouldn't be bound to supporting their party's leader against their will. That's why I'm OK with this:
Quote : | "At least 14 Republican members of Congress have refused to endorse or publicly support Sen. John McCain for president, and more than a dozen others declined to answer whether they back the Arizona senator." |

I have much more respect for someone who will disagree with the party line than for blind followers. If the guy doesn't want to support Obama, you have to respect him for saying so. The same goes for the Republicans who don't support McCain. 6/14/2008 11:44:19 PM |

look where it got McCain. The media practically fawned over him.
NOw all that's gone.
It's like in high school. McCain got a chance to make new friends with the cool kids and left his true buddies behind for the spotlight... until his usefulness was over and the cool kids dropped him like a bad habit forcing him to come back to his old friends with his tail between his leg begging for forgiveness...except many in the GOP aren't going to forgive. 6/15/2008 2:13:02 PM |

probably because the mentality is that they want to spite the party for not nominating hillary. this is a horrible reason not to support the party6/16/2008 7:37:01 PM |

^damn good point, and probably because they are scared of sounding racist (both the people that think this way and the news media if they were to cover it) 6/16/2008 8:26:18 PM |
