one of my coworkers, our senior architect, went on vacation this week and i need a good prank to do to his computer while he's gone. so far we've got gluing his mouse to the table and replacing his hard drive with an install of Windows ME.
what's some other good tech pranks? 6/23/2008 10:43:09 AM |

Collect all the little paper clippings from three-hole punchers and scatter them all in his desk drawers and all over his desk. Those things get everywhere. 6/23/2008 11:09:01 AM |

Have it play a stupid sound every time it comes up
change background to teletubbies
Very very very annoying accidental prank
And a link to something in the right click menue that points to a computer that isnt online so like have it called WinZip and refernse like \\nonrealcomputer\winzip\zip.exe. Every time they right click the computer will hang for 2 or 3 seconds for the network timeout. Or tie it to a computer that is up sometimes and down sometimes so sometimes its fast sometimes its not.
switch m/n keys on keyboard but wont work if hes a touch typist
change the images associated with common icons and the names
most of these are pretty easily figured out, but the middle one the right click one took about a month
You can scare somebody by putting an unbalaced cd in the cd rom drive (stickers)
the old copy paste desktop wallpaper icons
i made a batch/vbs file that would scan to see if I explorer was open and then randomly close it Have it randomly open internet explorer to some stupid website or have it check to see if firefox was open, then close firefox and go to IE or vice versa 6/23/2008 11:16:46 AM |

color the back of his staples pink small piece of scotch tape over the microphone end of their phone adjust entire desk/cube up or down an inch or two place some song or something in the startup folder drop random stuff from the ceiling - balloons, peanuts, fake money whatever wall off their cube by enclosing it with cube pieces from somewhere else (add a ladder for bonus points) switch around inks in their inkjet if they use one (black for red maybe..or switch two colors) mess with their phone ringer dull their scissors take ink out of pins, shorten lead in auto pencils, switch highlighter tubes cut roll of tape with razor

There was a pretty awesome thread about this sort of stuff in Premium Palace a few years back. It had some great ideas in it. I'm pretty sure a few of the more elaborate ones were from BobbyDigital

Some of the contracts guys in my program did the whole cardboard thing with a roof and all. Then, over the doorway of the house, they hung a large picture of the finance director with some Wizard of Oz-esque scribbles and a giant text balloon saying "[Finance Director] is watching you." 6/23/2008 5:24:49 PM |

it will be almost undetectable
