ok, just moved into a new place and the AC breaks right after we move in
I call the landlord, he gets somebody to come fix it. I think everything is normal, things are running again, at least for a while. End of the month it's starting to get hot again
my electric bill comes, it's literally twice what I expected.
come to find out, the guy who fixed the AC actually didn't 'fix' it, he just hot wired everything to 'on' so the AC, the heat, and the fan were running 24hours a day for an entire month. Plus huge ice buildup problem that was closing the fan up, forcing it to work harder and harder. If it kept going like that, it would have burned out the compressor. I have to call the landlord again to fix it right this time.
Can he be responsible for my some of the extra $$ on my electric bill? Seems a bit unfair that b/c it wasn't done right the first time, I gotta shell out $100 extra cash for it. 6/25/2008 2:36:16 PM |

^ Unless there is something in your lease that says otherwise for contingency like this, you're stuck with your power bill.
I sucks that you got a shitty HVAC service technician. There are too many shitty ones floating around. 6/25/2008 2:39:22 PM |
