I had Schmid for the Japanese religions course. Overall the class was interesting but he assigned waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much in the way of reading. Hundreds upon hundreds of pages. There was no way you were getting that shit done with a full class load. I ended up using wikipedia as a study guide and got an A

^ I agree. He was a very nice guy and had a way of making the 3-hour once a week class not complete torture. A lot of people really hated the way he structured the assignments/grades though.

rel 300 w/ stewart wasn't bad

he focused mostly on asian religions & even has his own place in india, so he has some great stories & makes the class as interesting as he can, really makes you think & has a way of putting things in perspective for you

some people in my class didn't fair well on his exams, but they were usually people majoring in prt or animal science (no offence)

I dont know if Bill Adler is teaching this year, i heard he was on some sort of fellowship

but if you get a chance take his New Testament class. you learn a LOT.

anything taught by Jason Bivens is bound to be a fun class.

History of Christianity, another good class.

I also enjoyed Old Testament Lit, but I dont know who teaches it these days.

Personally, I did not like Intro to Buddhism, because the professor (forget his name) was kind of lame. But it was his very first semester teaching (had just gotten his PhD)... and that was about 5 years ago, so he may very well have gotten a lot better.
