so the HTPC is about 12-14 feet away (depending on where i'm sitting in the room) and i'd like to be able to play games or work on the computer from the couch...my current units (both logitech, both RF) crap out after 3-4 feet

i'm not really looking to spend $100 on a combo, but without the long-distance keyboard and mouse, i can't use the HTPC for half of the things i wanted to use it for

suggestions?

Unfortunately, all the new ones seem to be 100+ bucks. The MCE Keyboard was built for XP MCE, but works just fine in Vista. Other than the useless thumbmouse nub, it's an awesome media center keyboard, as is the new one and pretty much all the Gyration boards.

i like the idea of this one for ~$60:

but i'm wondering about the pointer/mouse function...anyone on here use it before? i may just see if it's at bb or cc or something and try it out

thanks for the link

it's horrible.

its made basically JUST to be used in Media Center. as a mouse pointer it is infuriating. in media center for scrolling menus, it works okay, but the other controls on the keyboard do that better. still worth it for 60 bucks though, at least for me, never had the need for a mouse in media center.

Also, you can find it for ~35 bucks several places online now. It's been discontinued by MS in favor of the 7000, so you probably wont be able to find it in retail stores anymore. They just pulled it from the Company store a couple of months ago, and it was still $99 there
