With Seagate announcing a 1.5 TB 3.5" drive today (http://www.hothardware.com/News/Seagates_Latest_Desktop_HDD_Has_15TB_Capacity/) I began to wonder about how much data people are keeping around on live disks.

Right now my active archive of photos, music, video, documents and such is around 300 GB.

How much data are you archiving? I actually have relatively little video but I imagine it makes up the biggest part of a lot of peoples archives. How big would yours be without video?

I have about 120gb of real data. I've got 4 live disk backups. 2 internal, 2 external.

Yeah I'm not including music or video. If you include those and downloads its several hundred GB on live discs and much much more on CD/DVD backups.

If I count my research data I keep just north of 30TB across various RAID volumes.

I'd say maybe 5gb of stuff I care about not including video and replaceable music. I keep about 1.5tb though

300gb'ish. the vast majority are pictures and movies dating back to around 2002.. I backup resized version of the pics and movies to mozy, not sure how much space it's using right now but not a whole lot really

i lost almost a tb of "movies" some personal some public, when i moved after being done with school. one of my external drives failed
