I've gone through the other threads and there's good advice there, but most of it is Raleigh-centric. Does anyone have some good recommendations for reasonably-priced mattresses in Greensboro?

There is a place on the corner of Spring Garden St. and Mendenhall, over by UNCG. I am not sure the name of it, Discount Mattress or something like that. I know a lot of the UNCG kids get mattresses there, so i would assume they are pretty cheap.

there isn't a mattress factory in greensboro, otherwise that'd be one of the first places i went to. the mattress i have now is from there (via tww!) and the other threads seemed to suggest it's good.

^^ hehe

^^ Ahahaha I was about to say that place looks like a crack house.

I would definitely buy a mattress from there. If I wanted to get AIDS from a mattress.

Before making any large purchases I've always found it helpful to sleep on it.

Bad pun, not actual advice.

Isn't there a mattress firm off battleground (in that shopping center with Harris Teeter and Target)?

I know it's a chain and all- but I've seen some good deals there

yeah, the place looks dirty but they sell new shit still in the plastic. They have another location somewhere in Greensboro that is much bigger.

got a simmons beautyrest palm cove a couple weeks ago for my new place from mattress warehouse. beats the crap out of OMF, and it was $800, so around a $200 premium over a similar OMF queen size, well worth it. i'd go to a local mattress warehouse store and see if you like this one as much as i did, because last i checked it was still on sale, and it was my favorite bed in the store after the $4000 models.

simmons ftw

I tried out a few mattresses (mostly Simmons) at a place called The Bed Gallery on Battleground over the weekend. They have a sale right now (don't they always )...so a queen was 749 with free delivery and frame. I also went to Costco whose prices aren't much less right now and the Mattress Firm near Costco, which quite frankly, was quite underwhelming (their prices were about $100 or so less, but the quality sucked!)

Anyone have experience with The Bed Gallery?

I don't know about ^^'s experience with Costco, but I bought my king memory foam bed from Costco for about $700. Its great quality, but is too squishy for me and I didn't like it, so I'm switching it out for a firmer king Sealy Posturpedic for $500. Granted, its your base model Posturpedic, but the coil system is the same. I have a friend who works at Mattress Firm, and she said those prices are a lot cheaper than what she could get us, even with her discount.

I mean, with mattresses, it worried me that I would be committed to something that expensive when buying it, but with Costco you're not. Liek I said. I've had this bed since the beginning of May and I'm just now exchanging it. Someones even coming to my house to get it. I think it makes buying a mattress a safe purchase... assuming they have what you want.

Just to clarify, Mattress Firm was not a good experience, not Costco. At Costco, I just got the brochure with their prices because they don't have mattresses to try out there.

Thanks for the advice and keep it going! I'm going to check a few more places this weekend.

Yeah, I just drove by Discount Mattress near UNCG on my way back to the office. I take back what I said, you don't want to get a mattress from there.

See. THIS is why I wouldn't buy a used mattress.
