i'd hate to see what your pre-existing life goals were

^If you're talkin' to me, I've always dreamed of running a video-for-web production company. I think it has a ton of potential, steam events live to cell phone, laptop, and internet-connected TV. I'd personally love to watch WRAL's cast of the weather or top news stories on a blackberry on the bus to class in the morning. Or to catch sportscenter when I've got time, not in front of a screen @ 11PM...So yes, a green screen, lightwave, VT, and a tricaster or 2 should get it done

i was actually referring to the person who set such a low life goal and announced it in the creation of this thread

^^depends on what you're doing/budget. Obviously if you've got $50,000 and a render farm MAYA is the clear winner. If you've got a single PC with fast hardware lightwave gets the job done.My only complaint with Lightwave is that I haven't upgraded to v9. 8.5 must be rendered on a full install machine in windows or osx. v9 brings in the linux render head without install. Just run the file and feed in your development files. It also fixes the worst network render system known to man. Prior to v9 it's just stupid to try... machines regularly lock up and/or slow to a crawl while rendering. For one project I took over an entire lab of 21 machines (the render was going to take a while ). About 6 hours into it only a hand full of machines were still functioning. Just pathetic.[Edited on September 28, 2008 at 12:54 AM. Reason : a]
