(7.5/10) Certainly not one of pixars best, but a good one nonetheless. The part where the fat people all roll into a fat ball at the edge of the ship was hilarious... But no, nothing about that movie was cry worthy.... 7/13/2008 12:46:39 PM |

I read an article that stated this movie made fat people feel bad because it blames all of societies problems on them. The end went something like "So when the lights come up at the end and you see the lonely fat lady waddle out of the theater do you pity her or get angry for being the cause of the end of this planet?"
Seemed kinda weird to me. 7/13/2008 2:26:42 PM |

hahahahaha i don't think it was trying to say fat people are causing the end of the planet. it was definitely a shot at consumerism. i think that the people were fat as a result of the mass consumption of increasingly ridiculous products. and it took like 700 years for them to get that way. it wasn't saying fat people ruined society. plus i think that the people that are offended by the movie are probably the ones that are in denial about their life and choices. why would you be offended/defensive if you didn't recognize SOME truth in something. 7/13/2008 2:42:18 PM |

It doesn't, and any fattie who feels that way is as oversensitive as jesse jackson.

also felt it at the end of Man on Fire earlier today, at the bridge scene and then in the car ride to Denzel's murder. 7/13/2008 7:59:24 PM |

ive got a little choked up on some kid's movies from time to time.... but WALL-e wasn't one of them.
yeah, it was a good movie, but what you expect? it's Pixar. that's like pizza or sex. it can't ever be BAD.
Toy Story Finding Nemo Shrek
... those all were far more emotional 7/14/2008 1:41:30 AM |

shrek wasn't pixar just fyi (didn't know if it was on the list as a "kids movie" or a "pixar movie"). but nemo is definitely a tear jerker.
i still loved wall-e though. and it is prob my fav pixar 7/14/2008 1:43:05 AM |
joe_schmoe All American 18758 Posts user info edit post |
yeah you're right. Shrek was Dreamworks. still, the two groups are pretty much equally good
and I should have said Shrek II -- that was the real tearjerker of the three Shrek movies.
even Puss In Boots was all like "I must not cry.... you can not make me cry."
WALL-e was technically awesome.... but ... the storyline was just a little too contrived or something. yeah the robots were cool ("MO" ), but the humans were just retarded, and not in a funny way.
it's almost like the movie was trying to be too serious, and trying too hard to make some sort of beliveable scenario.
I dont want to be preached at in a kids movie. "Happy Feet" could get away with it, for some reason, maybe because it was all at once at the end, and just totally over the top corny.
got dam i watch too many kids movies, and i take them way too seriously

I think Wall-E was pretty low on the preaching actually, considering it's Spielberg. There were a couple moments I wanted to throw something at the screen but once I decided to ignore the preaching, I was able to enjoy it. 7/14/2008 11:29:08 AM |

pixar and dreamworks are NOT equally as good. but we don't need to have that debate haha...i think it is going on in another wall-e thread
and also, just because the movie is animated doesn't necessarily mean it is a kids movie! 7/14/2008 11:31:13 AM |
