Sony SZ laptop.

Traveling in Europe. I get to Venice, and my laptop refuses to boot properly. I get an error: ksecdd.sys failed to load or is corrupt. 0xc000000f.

After jumping thru a few hoops, I get a vista repair cd burned from a torrent somewhere on the web. after repair attempts 1-5 or 6, vista happily informs me it cannot fix the problem with startup repair. I looked up similar problems, and attempted command prompt,

C:
CD boot
Dir
Bootrec /rebuildbcd

at which point the rebuild says it was sucessful, but also notes it detected 0 instances of a Windows Vista OS.

reboot fails again. What can I do (assuming hardware is not fucked?)
is hardware fucked?

scratch that problem, got it fixed.

Now for the real problem.

Vista loads, then goes black at the login screen for a few seconds, then reboots.

Any ideas? Any?

I've had this happen before but it was a hardware driver issue. Have you tried booting it up in safe mode?
