i had never used reddit... and now i think i'm addicted to it and google reader

i enjoy reading comments on articles. i tried digg, but all those kids do is praise apple and firefox and bash microsoft. fanboyism is really bad over there.

i dont know about reddit. slashdot comments are often informative and coherent.

I think you're likely to have just as many problems with the comments on either.

I like to read the comments sometimes, but mostly it's about the content for me.

you're right. but at least the arguments against apple/ms are somewhat logical and coherent. on the digg comments they're all like "omg ms sucks apple rulz"

both sites slant pretty hard to the left. Nonstop links to thinkprogress, moveon.org, etc.

The internet combined with partisan media sources is really polarizing the masses.

reddit is amazing, I am an active poster on there too

the subreddits and the weeding out the riffraff really does it for me.

reditt has been getting a huge influx of new users,
its unfortnate cause we like to keep the conversations intelligent but that wont last long

these types of sites are best when not well know to the average user, but with digg's problems a lot of idiots are migrating to reddit

votes put the best content on the top, tww can have good content fall through cause it not being posted in constantly

also comments are sorted by default by the number of up votes it has, which puts the best comments and replies on top
also comments and replies are nested so you ca follow a conversation much easier, instead of scrolling through pages of BubbleBobble's nonsense to follow a conversation

also you can see the best content from all different sections under the all section, it would be cool if you can have an all section for tww

plus they have a point system so people like BubbleBobble would have negative points and their commennts and threads would get less viewers

i think the focus on stuff with lots of votes throws me off

it's like if the what are you thinking thread were at the top of p1 all the time, but only b/c it has the most posts, not necessarily b/c people post in it all day

^^ by default, the hottest threads by vote go to the top
that is, threads getting the most votes in that hour or day

so old threads would not be there unless they had a bunch of up votes that day
but you can also filter by top votes that week, month, year etc

also you can filter by date or activity, which resembles what tww is now

new threads would probably start up on the 1st or second page and go from there, that also depends on your points, which you get when people upvote your threads and comments

it can work for tww in my opinion
