6 speed unless you're going to get wild with it or you find a real deal on an a4. doesn't take much to overcome the converter/bands in the 4l60e or just trash it in general and good built units are $texas. the t56 can take you pretty far with just a good clutch. at least as far as the 10 bolt will anyway...

yeah, generally speaking i think 6 speeds get 2-3mpg better than a4's, especially on the highway. both return pretty damn impressive numbers for the car they're in though.

depends on the gearing, but stock/mild f-bodies should easily do high teens in town and mid 20's on the highway. even with heavy mods they'll still get 20+ on the highway, but around town suffers especially with a stalled car or something. vettes do a little better because of their aero and weight.
