Any of ya'll riding in a vanpool? I live in Cary and work near downtown Raleigh, and I would like to get a vanpool together, but there aren't any current routes going that way. Just wondering if anyone has any experience/feedback about the service.

I've been thinking about getting a scooter. Being nosey, how much did you pay for yours, and do you feel safe driving it on the streets. I only drive ~10 miles each way to work, and don't have to drive any major roads so I think it would work out well.

My only fear is that I'll get crushed by some idiot on a cell phone driving a school bus sized suv. If I survived that, I'd have to kill them.

^^ i love my scooter...i bought it used from a tdubber, so it was a bit cheaper than you'd find most used scooters

i feel pretty safe on it...i've been driving it to work nearly every day for the past 2 months, and i've yet to have a close call that wasn't the result of me getting used to it (what you have to get used the most, IMO, is that it's like a motorcycle in the fact that you lean into the turns when they're tight...otherwise, you'll run off the road )

the busiest roads i've ridden on so far are western and hillsborough, though i did drive it downtown one day for giggles

^ B/c I lived in Cary before I got this job! And we live in a nice apt complex with privacy and access to nature trails and outdoor activities.

On top of that, I. HATE. MOVING.

If I live anywhere near campus I'm going to have to pack serious heat to keep the thugs at bay.

That said, the hubby and I might look into moving closer to campus when we start gradschool FT.
