Any good places in town that stay open til at least midnight or 1am on a Friday night? It seems like 11pm is the magically retarded cutoff for coffee in this city.

^^^ I'm actually making my own vanilla latte right now; as I type this, the electric kettle is heating up my water. But that doesn't change the fact that some people, myself included, also enjoy getting out of my own house, possibly sitting outside, people-watching, and soaking in the atmosphere of a nice independent coffee shop on a nice Friday night.

No, around 11 is usually the cutoff for starbucks in this town. Only other place I've found is Helios on glenwood south that stays open until 12 weekend nights.

Past that and all thats left are gas stations or that watery shit they serve at wafflehouse and ihop

There should be a 24 hour Dunkin Donuts in Raleigh. Not quite the ambiance all-ya-all are looking for, but I enjoyed many a night of coffee fueled calculation back in the day. The joy of drunks stumbling in and pretending to know what I was doing was a lot of random fun. And then the walk back to my office to sleep at dawn. Such fun.

It's good to hear Third Place is open late; I grabbed a drink there once after eating at Lilly's, and it seemed pretty chill. I didn't make it out there tonight, but maybe tomorrow.

Not many coffee shops are open past 10

I think Helios and Cup A Joe are the only late nighters.

Dunkie's has always amazed me. I don't know how they can have such good coffee, but then have such horrible coffee drinks. I'm always down for them if I just want a cup of plain coffee, but everything else they have is disgusting.

[Edited on July 27, 2008 at 2:40 PM. Reason : not the donuts... donuts rock. just the drinks.]

their coffee drinks don't use the right amount of coffee and their ingredients are off.

they just need more time to get their act together.

[Edited on July 27, 2008 at 2:53 PM. Reason : with starbucks tanking, they shoudn't have a problem.]

I thought Cup a Joe closed at 11 even on weekends, or at least the Mission Valley one does. Have their hours changed?

Ok, they close at 10:30. I was thinking they were open later.

Third Place is open until 12. That may be the best you can do around here.

Helios is open til 12.

IDK about Starbucks and Caribou, but I doubt either of them are open later.

^Yeah Starbucks and Caribou are usually midnight in Charlotte. Probably the same in Raleigh. Common Market in Charlotte has coffee, bar, deli, wifi, outside/inside seating, convenience store stuff. Open till midnight on weekdays, and 2 am on weekends. They must be losing money somehow selling both draft beer and letting you buy a 6-pack a drink it there.

Cup a Joe used to be open late. Helios will be in my front lawn so I guess I'll have to settle for that.

I thought for sure this would be a 2006 thread when I googled "late night coffee Raleigh" and found TWW... very surprising.

Part of me wonders if the (somewhat of a) *bux in the 24-hr Harris Teeter would be a good idea... I mean, the Teeter's open... might as well sell some coffee, too.

I actually think the starbucks in the CV Teeter keeps somewhat short hours. I'm guessing they wouldn't get enough late-night traffic to justify keeping a barista there all night.
