I'm looking for a 2.8ghz Intel P4 (socket 478, 533mhz bus speed).

My motherboard is an Intel 745GL, and I believe this is the fastest cpu that will go in it.

I have a 2.8 P4 that is hyper threaded with an unlocked multiplier
i'm using it atm so you'd have to offer something special to get it
it's on a good mobo with a huge aftermarket heatsink with adjustable fan speed

xsmp, If it has hyperthreading, I don't THINK it's socket 478 / 533mhz bus. But I could be wrong.

tmmercer, thanks for the offer, but I think I'm gonna hold out for a 2.8.

that's why i stated that it is on a motherboard already - what i'm getting at is you could talk me out of the pair, if you weren't married to your current mobo.

xsmp - gotcha. I'm trying to get out cheap.

ThatGoodlock - Socket 478, 533mhz bus? That would make for a strange multiplier....

just wait and spend $250 on a quad core 2 duo. It'll be like 6 times as fast...

Eh, that would require a new motherboard, power supply, and case too. I know it's fast, but not worth it right now.
