here is the scenario...

I have made a sandwich for lunch....

in order for this sandwich to reach the pinnacle of taste it requires doritos...

one of the girls here ate all the doritos on her sandwich a while ago...

now i'm at the house....half made sandwich...no doritos...and hungry...

my car is blocked in and i can't find the keys to the car that is at the end of the drive blocking everybody in and all the other girls are on the beach except one chick that didn't drive....


should i

a) walk however far it is to the closest store to get a bag of doritos

b) walk down to the beach and get the chick's keys that's at the end of the driveway

c) wait it out until they come back and go to the store then

d) eat the sandwich without doritos

ok...here is the new scenario....

one of my closest and oldest friends from back home called and left a message about going to the Shooter Jennings concert tonight...

I really would like to go but I don't want to spend the money...so I called back and told him that...

he told me not to worry about that....that he would pick me up and pay for my ticket and we (there is a group of 4-5 going) would have a great time...

we've always done the "you get me this time, i'll get you next time thing"...

so that's not the issue...

here is the delimna...

it has recently been brought to my attention through various mutual friends and his family members that he is...and i quote..."in love with me"...

this is a 20 year friendship that has never been anything more....we've never done anything even remotely physical and have each gone through relationship after relationship with no real regard to the other...

let me state now....i have ABSOLUTELY no interest in things being anything more than they have ever been....i'll just never view him as anything more than a really good friend...

so...i sorta feel like the stakes have changed now that i'm aware of the situation even though he doesn't know that....i mean, we are both adults and know how to manage these situations with grace....

but would i be a really big bitch for letting him pay for my ticket....which would have never been an issue to me if i didn't know how he felt about me....

or should i just say "thanks, but not thanks" which will hurt his feelings since i haven't hung out with him in a while since he's still living back home...

if you didn't know would you have done it? if so then do it. this would be a prime example of why people shouldn't tell other's business. if the fella likes you and didnt want to say it he probably had his reasons. one reason being that it would make things weird... like it apparently did

if i were you i'd go to the concert and letting him pay and offering the next time like you would normally do. speaking from a guys point of view.

I had a friend like that a few years ago. He slipped up and told one of my friends that he was pretty much in love with me. I just pretended I didn't know and kept our relationship as it was because we had so much fun together just as friends and dating would have totally ruined everything. So, in my opinion, you should just "forget" that you know he loves you and just keep things as is, especially since it sounds like you guys have been friends forever.
