I'm thinking about upgrading my entire computer tomorrow from an Athlon 64 3700 single core to something a bit more modern. I'm pretty much set on an Intel quad or a duo core CPU.

I'm not really looking to getting anything all too fancy. I was looking for something with a good performance factor, but nothing top of the line. I've heard that Quad's release has dropped the price of the Duo, so the Duo would be about 100 less. Is it worth to get the Quad core, if I'm only looking for something a little above average for gaming?
