Defined:Made and sold in SC, and a very few other places.... never seen it in NC (yet) - Charleston basedProblem: Half vodka, half water, add a little ice & tastes like you're drinking an every day sweet tea. Half vodka, half lemonade.... hold onto your pants - sister.Aproximately 7 sips in, you seem to gather that you feel a bit loopy. Aproximately 13 sips in, you stop caring that you feel a bit loopy. Somewhere about sip 23 you're plotting who is going to SC next, and how you can 'score' this tasty bit of heaven. No taste of alcohol = troublehttp://www.fireflyvodka.com/

8/7/2008 12:16:31 AM

8/7/2008 12:22:35 AM
hmmm, i have a friend at University of Charleston. perhaps it's time for a phone call.
8/7/2008 12:23:23 AM
I wonder if it's sold in the border towns, like Fort Rock Mill Hill
8/7/2008 12:24:26 AM
and i  muscadine wine.
8/7/2008 12:28:25 AM
It gives you a list on the website of everywhere in SC it is sold, but I didn't see any right over the border. I DID find on NC's ABC main page a 'holiday' list effective 8-1-08 that included it - here's to the hope that wake co will get it. Come on internet friends, find us the answer!!

http://www.ncabc.com/pricing/special_items.aspx"Spirituous liquor products that are not listed on the approved state price listing may be special ordered. A Spirituous Liquor Special Order is made when a customer visits a local ABC store and requests to purchase one or more cases of spirituous liquor. The local ABC store then makes a request to the ABC Commission. The Commission contacts the vendor for the price(s) and advises the local board, who then advises the customer.A Spirituous Liquor Special Order must be prepaid by the customer to the local ABC Board, which places the order with the Commission. The Commission transmits the Special Order to the supplier who then ships the order to the State Warehouse in Raleigh for delivery to the local board and the customer. "It appears you can special order a case from the ABC store.[Edited on August 7, 2008 at 12:38 AM. Reason : .]

holy crap, apparently firefly vodka is actually distilled in florida because it only costs $800 per year for state taxes (i guess a kind of sin tax), while south carolina charges $50,000 every two years that must be paid up front north carolina also charges only $800.http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa5306/is_200702/ai_n21286950i did some searching for release dates but all i got was "coming soon".
8/7/2008 12:43:33 AM
haha, this reminds me of being in highschool and mixing vodka w/ bojangles sweet tea and coming to the awesome realization that you couldnt even taste the vodka and would get completely shit-faced
8/7/2008 1:07:04 AM
yeah... in the wee early days of my alcohol consumption i was at a party at a friends house who's parents were home and cool with it, but didn't want people under 21 to drink (i was like 15). so i obliged but then saw a lonely bottle of jim bean on the table. i poured a generous amount into my drink, which happened to be a cappuccino. it was quite awful. so stupid.
8/7/2008 1:22:34 AM
I brought back a gratuitous amount of Firefly last time I was in Charleston but unfortunately it goes down so easy that two days at the pool polished every bit of it off......but those were two loopy days, if anyone goes to Charleston any time soon I will gladly pay you $10 a bottle on top of the price of the Firefly to bring me back some
8/7/2008 1:27:26 AM
Nice...know the people who came up with this stuff. The demand is so ridiculous in Charleston that they just "outsourced" some production to a place in Florida. They were putting limits on the amounts of bottles bars could order this stuff in Charleston. They are looking for space to expand production in Charleston and they are trying to introduce a peach tea vodka among a couple other flavors. The Sweat Tea Vodka saved this company. The original Firefly vodka was pure shit. But the sweat tea vodka is just going nuts. I sent five bottles to my buddy in Charlottesville the other day.See this thread:message_topic.aspx?topic=533212

8/18/2008 5:51:43 PM
so how do I tell if this is available in Wilmington without going to an ABC store?
8/18/2008 5:55:19 PM
It isn't available anywhere in NC yet (except Charlotte - for now), BUT if you go to the county ABC board (Wake county's is on Wicker Drive, b/w whittiker & hodges) you can pre-pay for a case (12) and they will special order & deliver to any ABC store you choose. In NC, it is $22/bottle[Edited on August 18, 2008 at 6:06 PM. Reason : ]
