This course is being offered this fall. Very interesting mathematics. I had this course a few years ago, very cool stuff. Don't be too frightened by the course number.
Quote : | " Dear Students,
In the Fall 2008 I offer a course in Symmetries, Invariants and their Applications.
The course covers practical methods for computing symmetries of differential and algebraic equations. Symmetries are used for obtaining an important information about the structure of the solutions of an equation, and in many important examples for finding explicit solutions. The methods rely on differential and algebraic invariant theory, whose basics will be covered. More information is attached.
The course can be of interest for those of you who are doing/planning to do research in algebra, geometry, or differential equations.
If you have any questions about the course, do not hesitate to contact me.
The course is currently scheduled 11:45-01:00 TH. Please, contact me, if you are interested in taking this class, but it is in conflict with your schedule. I will do my best to find the time suitable for everyone interested.
Best regards,

Dr. Kogan is cool. And her son is brilliant. He was in my 751 algebraic topology class, when he was in high school. 8/8/2008 2:50:42 PM |

as if anyone outside the math-grad list serve, where this was sent, would care.
[well, maybe some guys in the physics department would, but the probability that either those kids, or anyone else outside of the aforementioned groups interested in the class are on tww=epsilon.]
