Apparently running is like their national sport.

When American kids are playing baseball, football, soccer, basketball, watching TV, playing video games, etc.

That's true, both of my parents are Jamaican, and ran track. Both me and my 2 sisters ran track in high school, my little sister broke some records at UNCW (she doesn't hold the records anymore)
