i'd like to go to the mountains to go camping in the relatively near future, but since the last time i was there, i now have my two dogs...both of them stick around off the leash, and respond immediately to commands, so i'm not worried about them wandering offbecause of that, i'd really like to go somewhere that i can get away with not having them leashed...i know i could do parts of the AT where rangers don't go and/or don't care anyway, but this would have to be only a 3-4 day trip, and i'd like to have plenty of time to check out waterfalls, do some day hikes, etc instead of backpacking all my stuff insuggestions?

The call of the wild is strong, young quagmire. Do not be so over confident that they will not stray too far.

i've gone up around grandfather mtn. with a couple of dogs before. i think the only issue you'd really have is when you want to go places they can't (climbing, etc). we had an interesting time with that situation.

i didn't realize that there were campgrounds that DIDN'T allow dogs.
