it's a shared connection. what you have is "up to 1 Mbps", but you will almost certainly never even get close to that

it all depends on who all in your neighborhood is on the same circuit and how often they are on.

I bitched at them for this recently.

I was more pissed over the fact that their sales people keep calling and hanging up on me before I can tell them to stop calling me about their shitty sales pitches. It was faster for me before they did this upgrade, and now that they've done the upgrade it seems like a lot of things are running a lot shittier than they were before.

They're screwing everybody, not just you. Until state regulators let somebody else in here to compete with TWC we're going to be stuck with it.

unfortunately, the only way to get guaranteed bandwidth is to get a dedicated circuit like a T1. and if TWW is that important to you, then feel free to shell out the $500 a month.

I damn sure wouldn't pay for DSL if I wasn't getting the 1.5 or 3mbit constantly because the local telco could not support the neighborhood's bandwidth consumption. With cable I would not mind peak times dropping to 1.4 mbit if every other hour I was raping warez at 10mbit.
