Hey guys, anyone know a good place to run besides the track in Carmichael? Any place outside around here that's good or that you know the distance of? Thanks for any help.

the track is quite possibly the worst place to run.....
Umstead forest has 20+ miles of single track and bridal trails. Lake Johnson as a 3 mile greenway loop and another 2 miles of dirt trails. There is a greenway that runs most of the way between NCSU and Lake Johnson. Or just run around the city and make your own routes. Head south and west of NCSU to avoid the most traffic

there's also a greenway all the way from NCSU to Umstead. Just go west on Sullivan

The trail that goes from Meredith (starting at the corner of Hillsborough and Gorman go through the gates onto campus) to the art museum. Still my favorite place to run.

Centennial Campus is the shiznit...you will most likely see deer and foxes as well as the golf course that is near completion...it also has mile markers along the trail with workout stations.

Well I've never been to Lake Johnson or Umstead...but i would suggest running somewhere outside and just get out of Carmichael cause that is a bad place to run.

lake johnson

or... if you don't mind raising the chance of being killed just slightly, the gorman-western-avent ferry loop (~3.35 miles)

I used to run around campus a lot. I'd run up to the design school and all around the quad over there...then in pullen, and come back to Lee. Sometimes I'd make runs on the other side of hillsborough closer to cameron village (there are some cute houses back there) and the rose garden.

Hey thanks for all the suggestions guys, I'll have to check out Umstead and Lake Johnson. I pretty much answered my own question after using the very helpful search button and found some previous topics. Got a good route that I like that just goes around campus and is exactly four miles!

http://www.usatf.org/routes/search/ Pretty cool.
