I know these things have been around for years, but they are super expensive. I've seen a person once on Lake Gaston on one of these. really expensive (around $1500).

For anyone here that has used one, how fun are these things? How bad are the falls?

And if someone would rent me one for a weekend to try, that would also be great (I'd make it worth your time).

Yeah, I know they look super dorky.

In all honesty we rented one for a week and when we became good @ it it became boreing... i guess when we're good enough to do flips it would be fun again but i did enough flips trying to learn how to come up on the damned thing... once you're up it rides smooth as glass and the wake doesn't affect it which was nice and fun but perfectly smooth carving gets old quick.

and honestly the first time i stayed up on the thing i did a back flip accidentally and landed it.

(you have to lean back to get it on plane but immediately after it comes on plane if you are still leaning back you're going to do a back flip... good luck)

Where did you rent one?

I had wondered if it would get boring, quick.

learning curve is easier than a wake board and less punishing.

looks harder, but isn't.

it's not something that's great on it's own, but in a stable of things (wake board, tube, knee board, etc... it's something everyone can use).

i like it a lot, though you do get funny looks.

i think the official term for these things is Hydro Foil.

I've never tried it. Saw several on LKN this summer, one guy was truely rediculous at it.

Seotaji... do you own one? Interested in renting it out for one weekend? For something this expensive, I'd rather try before buying.
