It's a commentary on the typical democrat view that some people earn "too much" money, and it should be redistributed to those who earn less. Pretty sure this article was written as a joke.
8/19/2008 1:51:49 PM
please tell me they are not serious.
8/19/2008 1:52:43 PM
The replies on facebook are fucking hilarious
8/19/2008 1:53:45 PM
wow. There are a lot of people who look really stupid for taking that article seriously. They're all in college too, how sad.

How can anyone, even for a second, think that this might be anything but a dig against dems?

There are 55 pages of retards being outraged, with a few people interspersed saying, "wow, you guys are retarded."

uhhthat's not the counter argument you're looking for, because the analogy is pretty much spot-on, except that you could argue that life is not a competition where we need winners and losers in the way that a sporting event is.

^^ I'm waiting for the explanation of where I'm wrongbecause I have heard pretty much every one of those talking points straight from the mouths of leftists.Like I said, the analogy fails in that life is not a competition in search of winners and losers in the same sense that the Olympics is (though in some ways, it is certainly just that). Other than that, it's pretty much on.

this thread is awesome. [Edited on August 19, 2008 at 5:45 PM. Reason : ^completely agree]
8/19/2008 5:44:41 PM
^^what exactly is it that you want to argue about, so I can narrow it down...funding social programs, a progressive tax structure, holding congressional hearings (btw Arlen Specter, a republican is the king of holding retarded congressional hearings, such as the one investigating spygate because he is an eagles fan), etc?[Edited on August 19, 2008 at 5:49 PM. I think this is the perfect Republican view on global economics in that our country only does better when everyone else is down./I'll be your lightning rod of hate.

EXCEPT THE OLYMPICS ARE GAMESAND LIVING IS LIFEMOTHERFUCKER
8/19/2008 5:54:54 PM
^^^ progressive tax structure is the best example, although funding social programs also falls into the scope of the argument (the two are related, anyway, of course)
8/19/2008 6:19:56 PM
so you're saying that the wealthy should pay a lower percentage of their income in taxes than the poor? If you are really concerned about fiscal responsibility then cutting defense spending should be your biggest priority, as our defense spending has been out of control since Reagan. [Edited on August 19, 2008 at 6:48 PM. Reason : .]
8/19/2008 6:46:20 PM
come on, dude...nobody advocates regressive taxation.well, maybe a few people advocate practices that would effectively be regressive (for example, a pure national sales tax or pure flat tax with no exemption for the first "X" amount of income), but it's generally because they simply haven't thought the issue through carefully enough--not out of any actual desire for regressive taxation. that's ridiculous.maybe we could cut defense spending some, but I'd be quicker to target Medicare, Social Security, unconstitutional government agencies, etc.[Edited on August 19, 2008 at 6:58 PM.
