Exhibition Games in Canada at:

York University - Saturday 7:00pm
University of Guelph - Sunday 7:00pm

Maybe we'll find a way to at least see box stats of this during the game, but probably not even.

This thread is mainly for discussion after the games.

I remember when we last played Guelph at the RBC Center. Their bench kept on going with this annoying chant.

I'm certainly glad to hear that Costner MAY have gotten his game back, but obviously a 20 point win over a Canadian university is not at all impressive, although I don't think Degand is playing

So, neither Ben nor Degand played? We didn't even have a center? Still, not a very promising score really.

no center, no real decent starting pg and we still score more than last year.

not bad, not great, but not bad.

costner with 30 sounds promising tho

If we're shooting that bad against Guelph, I'm scared to see what we shoot against ACC teams.

I am not going to read one way or another into this, a game that doesn't matter in August. I am just going to assume we are bad until I see otherwise in a few months.

let's give a round of applause to three standout individuals from last nights game

## Player Name FG-FGA FG-FGA FT-FTA OF DE TOT PF TP A TO BLK S MIN

10 Javier Gonzalez..... * 0-5 0-0 0-1 0 3 3 4 0 4 1 0 5 25

4 Courtney Fells...... * 3-10 0-4 7-7 0 5 5 2 13 1 3 1 1 26

31 Dennis Horner....... 0-6 0-3 4-6 0 4 4 3 4 1 1 0 2 23

Although Javi had 4 assists and 1 turnover, if you're going to take shots, you have to at least make one of them

Horner made up for last night. 9-11 and 3-4 from 3 pt. range.

What does a 40 point win in Canada translate to against UNC at home?

How do pronounce Guelph?

I hope it's like goo-lef, so when you play home games, you can say, "Welcome to the Goo!"

If I remember correctly, we played an exhibition against Guelph a few years ago and struggled to beat them. I can't remember if it was Herb's last year or Sid's first, but it was embarassing.

They hit every 3 they took for 30 minutes and finally wore down. Bunch of tiny white dudes.

Good to hear we beat the tar out of them though. You can't take much from it, but at least we didn't struggle (which is more than we have been able to say recently)

Pretty sure it was Sid's first year, and yeah we were really struggling at the beginning of that season, against a bunch of short scrappy canucks no less. Looks like they might be shaking a few cobwebs loose, hopefully getting good game situation practice in now will pay some dividends later in the season.

And I second gwelf as the pronunciation.

did they schedule these games following our 34-0 loss to South Carolina in an attempt to make us forget that thursday ever happened?

the only thing i like about this is that we are getting in some good practice while other teams *cough*DUKE*cough*Coach K*cough* are focused on other things

^That says a lot about how much we suck. And 87 is not very good against guelph. There will be acc teams that drop more than that on us this year.

you people are so negative about how little we beat them (21 and 40) by or how little we scored (81 and 87). It's August. Games that actually matter don't start for two months. Sure, expectations are low this year but, Jesus Christ, lighten up a little.

to be fair, charlotte is usually right on the cusp of being a top 25 team. us, on the other hand, are expected to have a .500 or so season.

We also have 2.5 players rotating at the 4/5 spot so its a little bit tougher to go against these shitty teams when you cant just pound it inside.

I'm satisfied that Costner is playing better and the freshman are playing well at the guard positions. Thats basically all I wanted out of this tournament.

Mays with 5 assists and 9 points is solid. Not great, but solid.

TORONTO, CANADA – NC State used a strong shooting performance knocking in 55.2 percent (32-58) of its shots, including 11-of-24 (45.8 percent) from three-point range, in picking up its second win in as many days in its exhibition tour of Toronto, defeating Guelph 87-47 on Saturday night.

Junior Dennis Horner came off the bench hitting 9-of-11 shots to finish with a team-high 22 points while redshirt junior Brandon Costner posted a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds.

“We played well tonight. It was pretty simple, our defense was really strong and then on the other side of the floor our shots were going down, especially from three-point range,” said head coach Sidney Lowe. “I thought we had great leadership with Brandon (Costner) and Courtney (Fells) spearheading the charge, and the rest of the team put it the effort that we needed and the results show. This was a very good game for us on both ends, and just a good way to end this weekend.”

After a rough shooting performance last night at York, the Pack hit three of its first four shots and jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the first two minutes that it would never surrender. In that first quarter, NC State hit 8-of-14 (57.1 percent) of its shot and built a 25-18 lead after the first 10 minutes.

The Pack increased its lead to 42-25 at the half, after allowing Guelph to hit just 3-of-19 shots in the second quarter. Horner was hot in the first half, hitting all four of his shots as he had 11 points at the break.

“I was just feeling it tonight, my shot was going down and that was a great feeling,” said Horner. “I wasn’t thinking about my shot, and I just got on a roll. We were swinging the ball extremely well on the perimeter, and our passing led to us hitting those open shots.”

The second half played out like the first, with the Pack defense holding Guelph to just 22 points and 25.9 percent (7-of-27) from the floor. NC State forced Guelph into 22 turnovers on the evening.

The Pack used the same starting lineup as last night with Javier Gonzalez and Trevor Ferguson at the guards, and Costner, Courtney Fells and Tracy Smith making up the front line.

Freshman Julius Mays hit all three of his shots, and finished with 10 points while also adding a team-high five assists."
