The quarterback for Washington throws a good TD pass, goes down the field and celebrates a little.

He gets penalized, the Huskies have to make a 35-yard PAT, and it gets blocked = BYU Wins.

That celebration penalty has to go. The NCAA is telling guys they can't get emotional. What kind of college football would we want to watch that wasn't emotional?

the celebration crap is bullshit. it's a part of college football. I'm amazing at how many times pounding your chest immediately after making a big play has been called this season. As long as you're not standing over the opponent or directing a taunt at them, it shouldn't be flagged.

good call by the refs

he threw the ball a mile in the air... that alone warrants a penalty. delay of game/celebration depending on the circumstances.

place the ball on the ground or hand it to a ref, and there wouldn't have been a penalty.

So, what merits a celebration penalty? Doing push-ups on the field? Saluting? You pretty much have to have a zero tolerance policy otherwise it's completely subjective.

Sounds like they lost the game because the PAT was blocked, not because they got a penalty. Sure it helped.

in no way was this unnecessary celebration. they just (pat aside) tied the game. and he went to go celebrate with his team. fuck this shit.

everyone is all like they shouldn't have been penalized, so the fuck what, its not like the kicker missed the 35yard PAT. it got fucking blocked. Washington should be absolutely ashamed that their game tying PAT attempt was blocked, and it looked like it was a completely botched attempt.

If this is true, then they should have penalized him. I haven't seen the video, but if he threw the ball high in the air then kudos refs for making the right call.

The penalty had NOTHING to do with them not making the PAT and having it blocked.

Nobody to blame but their blockers on the PAT.
