Wow, Tebow wins the Heisman last year and does not even crack the top 15. Graham Harrell at 8 is also a joke. 10/19/2008 11:43:47 AM |

It's statistically based. Not subjective.
It might not show who is actually the best QB's, but it is showing who is playing the best.
Gonna be interesting in the 2010 draf to see who goes #1, Tebow or McCoy 10/19/2008 11:49:53 AM |

He also has the lowest interception percentage on the list (not nearly as many attempts as others though). Seemed to be very few freshman in front of him as well. 11/10/2008 6:58:57 PM |

Wilson's now #52 on the list. The total yards passing really hurts the efficiency rating, but he has the lowest interception percentage which is refreshing change from prior QBs. 11/16/2008 2:42:40 PM |

tebow nor mccoy will go that highly in the draft i don't think
Tebow hasn't taken a snap from under center in college and has never proven he can make a drop and throw any sort of timing routes or deep outs or the like. I personally think Tebow will do well in the pros, esp. with his work ethic, but unless he proves he can do all of those things before the draft it will prob. hurt his stock a little bit.
Same with McCoy. Has not played in any type of offense that is used in the pros. I know Vince Young didn't either but he was just such a freak of an athlete. The other thing that will hurt McCoy will be his measurables. He is short, not all that big, and doesn't have a cannon for an arm or anything (good but not great arm strength).
I think both will have to have great workouts and combines to get drafted all that highly. Someone like Sam Bradford will go way before both of these guys if the draft were tomorrow. 11/17/2008 2:27:08 PM |

i cant remember but i do think it was a "misleading pick", like either a hail mary, or something that was deflected and then picked
his completion % is also misleading imo...he's pretty accurate but he is good at throwing it away if nobody is open...he's not missing a lot of targets by simply mis-aiming his throws, it seems to me most of his incompletions (aside from Spencer's 4 drops last week) were the result of him throwing the ball away 11/17/2008 4:21:35 PM |

#1 in the ACC and 45th in the country, he also has the lowest interception percentage in the nation
guy from the n&o had a quick blog post saying russell was the pick for offense rookie of the year and 2nd best Offensive player of the year behind Johnathan Dwyer

I'm OK with the names he's listed, but I'm sort of surprised Cutcliffe isn't listed over Jagodzinski in the coach of the year race.

if anything tob should be getting talk b/c we were picked to go 0fer by some places and to be dead last in the entire acc.
i would think tob, paul johnson, and randy shannon would be the candidates 11/24/2008 7:54:32 AM |

I can understand Cutcliffe not being the favorite, but no way is he outside the Top 3. A bounce or two their way and Duke beats Wake Forest. A converted turnover or two and Duke would have knocked off V-Tech too. Bottom line is Duke WON FOUR GAMES this year. Anybody want to claim they saw that coming?
Cutcliffe took Duke, the laughing-stock of the ACC (let alone the entire Div-1A), and made them a competitive team in his first year. Granted they only have one ACC win, but still you have to give credit where credit is due. Cutcliffe took a team with far less talent than even State and still managed to do what no one has done since Spurrier - make Duke football RELEVANT.
No offense to Jeff Jagodzinski, but I think that pick has everything to do with a nice looking record, not the quality of coaching. BC is the defending Atlantic champ, and the odd-on-favorite for the division this year (Clemson) went down in flames early on in the season, yet they're still going to have to sweat it out in the last week. Even if BC lost Matt Ryan, you can't convince me that back-to-back 3-loss seasons (at best mind you) somehow justifies picking Jags over Cutcliffe, Johnson, or even TOB.
TOB had to deal with an obscene # of injuries and a brutal schedule to start the year. Rallying a 2-6 team with no conference wins to 5-6 and a possible bowl berth is no small feat.
Paul Johnson is 8-3, one win better than last year already, and has a shot to win the Coastal. If he goes to the ACC championship he should be in the Top 2 at least, and should win it if G-Tech wins it all.
My Top 3: 1) Cutcliffe 2) Johnson 3) TOB 11/25/2008 1:49:58 AM |
