Honestly I could care less. Most of their exhausts are meh in terms of sound and I've never really heard a whole lot of great things about their turbo kits. Their parts were overpriced too IMO.

Considering they went bankrupt about 2-3 years ago player.

at least their name isn't as gay as Buddy Club.
and i'm not impressed with their turbo kits. They rebadge ancient Mitsubishi turbos (how many 18G kits do they have???) and their 350Z and Rx-8 kits for example are well known to be overpriced and unreliable. Their electronics are ok, nothing special. I've got one of their blowoff valves and a front mount intercooler kit, the fitment is crappy on the intercooler and that particular blowoff valve was known to leak (although I seem to have gotten a good one somehow).
but I think it comes down to declining markets and ebay knockoffs, I do agree with that.

^ I picked up an ebay knockoff FMIC for almost 1/3rd the price of the true greddy, and it turns out, it required LESS clearance modification than the greddy kit as well!
i'm also running a knockoff type-s bov open-atmosphere, i've heard things about people stalling between shifts with the real one but mine works great even with the stock MAF and no fuel mgmt.
and i think their version of the 18g is just a modified 16g with a larger adapter for the exhaust manifold (compared to the true MHI td05-18G), but i could be wrong. 9/11/2008 10:34:28 PM |

most mitsubishi turbos are just... dated. on-center turbine housings, journal bearing, nomenclature that is even more confusing than Garrett, meh.
I will say that the quality of the Greddy core I have is waaaay better than the ebay knockoffs I have seen. It is true bar-and-plate design and the fins are very durable. It also seems to deflect bugs very well even though I don't have any mesh or anything covering it. The ebay cores are like cheap aluminum radiators, but they do get the job done. 9/11/2008 11:34:54 PM |

garret based turbos are the way to go... bb centers tangential housings lighter wheels just good turbos and thier modified housings looked like crap castings too.

ported housing isnt really necessary unless your turbo is very big for the displacement.
also, oil cooled is a lot easier to deal with because you dont have to run coolant lines. bb is nice to reduce lag, but sometimes its just not worth the extra money. you're talking about doubling the money from a T series journal bearing to a full GT series ball bearing. of course there are other differences and the gt is going to be more efficient as a result.
that said, there is a very similar turbo to that one in the pic on a car at the shop right now.

porting a compressor housing is a gimmick. It doesn't do anything. If your turbo is operating near the surge line it is improperly sized for your application. If you are concerned about compressor surge under decel then you get a properly adjusted blowoff valve with a good vacuum source. 9/12/2008 10:14:02 PM |
