my band got stranded one time for 24 hours in roanoke rapids when our van broke down. let's just say next time we have to drive through there for a show we're getting a tuneup first
9/21/2008 4:20:41 AM
they don't refer to that town as Redneck Crappage for nothing.
9/21/2008 8:37:43 AM
We had someone at our toy store accept $200 in Canadian bills once.

Food Lion Manager: "Heriberto (or Shequetah) please come to the office . . ."
9/21/2008 8:53:26 AM
lol. what an idiot cashier.
9/21/2008 8:55:05 AM
on the flipside, i've had a cashier refuse to take a $2 bill, claiming it was counterfeit. although counterfeit was probably too many syllables for her, so i'm sure she said fake.anyway, the manager happened to be nearby and overheard it, chewed her out for being an idiot, and they took my $2 bill.
9/21/2008 9:27:18 AM
^^^how in the hell do you figure that, dumbass?
9/21/2008 10:09:57 AM
You would not believe the retarded people who work as cashiers sometimes Can't really blame the man for trying and then getting away with it. I don't know how he didn't bust out laughing for the remainder of the transaction.

This doesn't suprise me, the cashiers at the Food Lion I go to barely speak english. And the ones that do are definitely slow
9/21/2008 10:39:58 AM
this would've never happened at harris teeter.
9/21/2008 10:41:32 AM
I want a 2$ bill I've never seen one
9/21/2008 10:49:21 AM
I LOVE getting $2 bills and $1 coins as change from the Post Office. It's always awesome to spend them at a convenient store and watch the cashiers get all confused.
9/21/2008 10:51:59 AM
^^can't you just go to the bank and request some $2 bills?
9/21/2008 10:55:13 AM
Yes, this was national news, and it's happened once before in Roanoke Rapids, too, during my Junior year of HS. There was a rumor that the cashier then was a chick that graduated with me. And she wasn't foreign... she was actually in half of my AP classes, although I'm not really sure how the hell she got in.I didn't hear about it happening again last year... but then again, my parents don't tell me much about dumbass things at home, because Dad wants me to STOP hating that town so much. $2 bills are cool.

My husband has a small army of $2 bills that he framed and refuses to use. How am I supposed to work that into my decor?
9/21/2008 12:24:53 PM
I don't see why this is illegal. It's not really counterfeiting...the bill is obviously fake to anyone who looked at it, so if the cashier chose to accept it, why should the customer be penalized?
9/21/2008 12:26:20 PM
leavin these fake bills as tips isnt illegal is it?

when I was a cashier in high school, the people I worked with always took pride in being able to spot phony bills. When you're handling money all day, it's pretty easy to tell the difference in texture between a real and fake bill. We saw counterfeit money way more often than most places, so that might've helped
9/21/2008 12:34:17 PM
What about 50 cent coins? I have only seen one of those my entire life, when I was working as a cashier in high school. Those things are huge.So does anyone know why some bills are so less common than others like that?
9/21/2008 12:46:49 PM
o wait they still make themProduction of the note is quite low; approximately 1% of all notes currently produced are $2 bills. [Edited on September 21, 2008 at 12:49 PM. Reason : w]
9/21/2008 12:48:04 PM
Oh okay I didn't know that they stopped making them. I thought they only started making $2 bills in like the mid 90s anyway?
9/21/2008 12:48:48 PM
9/21/2008 12:49:24 PM
I used to get 50 cent coins from the tooth fairy, that's the only time I've seen them
9/21/2008 12:51:22 PM
