it doesn't really matter what her degree is in as long as she has mastered the material and can teach it to others

I learned this a month into the class. I dropped Annahoward@annahoward.com's class and took the CE version of Statics with Dr. Parish. I found his teaching style a LOT more logical than anything she attempted to do with us. Plus, she's godawfully condescending if you go speak with her in office hours. I think she hates girls.

In that case, I think she wanted me. She was always nice to me. Definitely not bragging about that though.

maybe Howard got tougher after I took her, but she used to curve and as long as you were around class average you were ok... she did expect alot of tedious work though.

Get used to it. It is very rare in the MAE department to have a professor that is actually decent at teaching. Get to know your TAs, they will teach you a lot more than the professors will.

Dr. G is the only professor that seemed to really try and help us learn the material.

I'll lift Boles up too.......might seem like a bastard in 301/302 but if you take him in 407 or another elective class he's pretty chill.

Maybe it is just bad professors on the AE side of MAE then.

Although a funny story about Dr. Tran... I was working the MAE booth at a college of engineering open house thing one time and Dr. Tran was there. There was a girl in high school that was looking at the curriculum and after she walked away, Dr. Tran was like "Hmmmm she'd probably make it here before she switches to Civil Engineering" and pointed to Calc II. Then he remarked that her mother was a total MILF. Funny guy.

I remember the first day of his class, "Hi I'm Dr. Tran, if you like UNC get the hell out of my class because I will fail you"
