this is a usb 2.0 port for a pc card slot has 4 usb slots.. it will run on the laptop power or you can choose to plug the pccard into a power outlet to lessen the load on your battery. i havent used it in a couple of yeaqrs sincee i havent used a laptop in a few yeaers so.. as far as i know it works perfectly still
