UGH DUDE, FUCKING VEGAN?
9/28/2008 4:04:08 AM
i don't see any reason why you couldn't include raw fish and beef into the diet. (organic/wild)it would make more expensive. but you can def add small amounts every other day or so.
9/28/2008 4:06:13 AM
DID YOU JUST PASS THE BAG TO LINDA, SO THAT LINDA CAN PICK UP THE POO?
9/28/2008 4:06:36 AM
are falafel and tempeh vegan? if so I might be okay with it...but probably not, i'm not even sure if breathing our particular mixture of air qualifies as vegan.
9/28/2008 4:07:48 AM
falafel is deep fried. you shouldn't be eating much of that anyway, whether dieting or not.this diet is about eating raw plant matter. the "raw" is as important as the "vegan" aspect.but there is no reason you can't include cooked beans and grains into it. it would make it healthier, give you protein, fiber, and micro nutrients. but do that only if you are cooking without much fat. a drizzle of olive oil at the end would be good. it would keep you fuller for longer, as well as it being healthy.but the bulk of that diet should come from raw fruits, veggies, and nuts. at least that's what she did.
9/28/2008 4:13:01 AM
dammit falafel is fried? fuck me i knew it was too good to be true
9/28/2008 4:19:03 AM
it is possible to make baked falafel (and donuts, french fries, etc), but i have never come across any.
9/28/2008 4:21:27 AM
i'll bake your donuts
9/28/2008 4:26:06 AM
Hey dc!tempeh is strait, bbq tempeh is the shit.otherwise, ive been vege for a while now, it's really not that badi've def lost weight . . . which kinda pisses me off, but so be it.
9/28/2008 4:51:03 AM
i've thought about going vagitarian. i've cut way back on my meat intake (mostly due to sympathy for the poor, poor animals) but i know that i don't really want to...so any true effort would ultimately fail. one day if something flicks off that meat switch upstairs, maybe it'll happeneither way, wanna trade metabolisms?
9/28/2008 5:31:42 AM
THE ANIMALS TASTE SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE VEG MATTER THOUGH. THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A MINUTE.THEN THINK ABOUT THE FACT THAT VEGETABLES = VEGGING. VEGGING = LAZY. MEAT /= LAZY. MEAT = TASTEEEEYYY.

9/28/2008 6:28:51 AM
I make baked falafel. Yummy stuff.
9/28/2008 9:58:14 AM
Yeah, we make baked falafel about once a week. Shit's delicious.
9/28/2008 10:00:30 AM
I couldn't imagine having to give up milk, otherwise, I would gladly be vegan.
9/28/2008 10:20:36 AM
what?milk sucks
9/28/2008 10:21:12 AM
When I was in college, I drank a gallon a day. I LOVE MILK!!!!!!!!!!!!What else would you put on cereal?
9/28/2008 10:23:18 AM
soymilk
9/28/2008 10:23:36 AM
you could do this with meat... eat enough raw meat and you're bound to get some sort of food poisoning and loose tons of weight
9/28/2008 10:23:53 AM
^^ I eat the Kashi GoLean stuff and I tried soy milk with that and it was awful. Perhaps I was giving up too much at once? Plus soy milk is so fucking expensive. Maybe when I get my new job I'll make the switch, but it would probably have to be chocolate soy milk at first.
9/28/2008 10:25:37 AM
Raw food is difficult to digest. Cooking vegetables breaks cell walls, making them easier to digest. The catch is the more you cook them, the more vitamins are lost.
9/28/2008 10:39:31 AM
i would go vegetarian if i wouldn't feel like such a tool at any social event that involved food. really no point in being a pain in the ass for no reason.
9/28/2008 10:41:47 AM
I'm not a vegetarian. That being said, I don't see how going against the norm in a country where 2/3 of people are overweight(even more in the south) makes you a tool.[Edited on September 28, 2008 at 10:45 AM. Reason : a]
9/28/2008 10:44:51 AM
you don't see how refusing to eat at a place where everyone else is eating makes you a tool?
9/28/2008 10:52:40 AM
There are very few restaurants that don't serve at least a couple of vegetarian meals.
9/28/2008 10:56:56 AM
You can ask for a plate without the meat entrée. Or you can eat the salad and bread. I've done it before. The pill popping old that smell like death and middle age fatties can look at me and say oh, he's a health nut, but quite frankly, I don't give a fuck.[Edited on September 28, 2008 at 10:58 AM. ^ No I am pretty sure the dude knows what healthy eating entails.Fact of the matter is, if you want to live/eat like primitive man, you have to be very rich today, or a farmer, or a caveman.1) If you are a typical city dweller, you have to be rich enough to afford organic/free-range/grass-fed/game meat. Check out http://www.blackwing.com and http://www.grasslandbeef.com . It is obviously [unfortunately] not for everybody.2) Or, you have to have been born into a [meat/poultry] farming family, and feel the urge to stay on the farm your whole life. Not everybody is so lucky, and even some those who are, have higher ambitions and go on to get city jobs.3) Or, you can go live in a cave and hunt. Or you can have a house built in the forest and hunt.
9/28/2008 2:39:58 PM
no grainsno sugarsexercise
9/28/2008 2:40:36 PM
either way we can all agree that MEAT is not the reason people are fat.it might be the reason for heart problems, but it sure as anything is not the reason for people being overweight.
9/28/2008 2:41:38 PM
I think the reasons for people being overweight in the US are, in descending order of importance:1) Sedentary lifestyle2) Overeating3) Type of food consumed

OEP, there are growing numbers of people in urban areas that are growing chickens/getting eggs in their backyards in urban areas. There are also more local and cheaper means of getting free range beef/pork.[Edited on September 28, 2008 at 4:45 PM. Reason : ]

okay so the moral of the story is: meat is fine, just exercise and don't worry about it.
9/28/2008 5:20:07 PM
Yes, meat is fine; the moral of the story is 3-pronged, with the first one most important:1) Exercise2) Don't eat tons of meat (and overall food)3) Get free-range/grass-fed meat/poultry if you can
9/28/2008 5:22:57 PM
