I couldn't possibly pick a best, but besides Op. Ivy, one of my favorites is Against Me! Reinventing Axl Rose

what're you smoking? They may not be the best band ever, but lint is the man, rancid was pretty good, and the idea that Rancid was worse for music than, say, nickelback or creed or britney spears is.... insane

I <3 Rancid

I think it might be because I played the "And out come the wolves..." CD nonstop for a couple years back in middle/high school

one of the best albums of all time period. Has punk and just about every other single genre of music on it: rock, gospel, dub, ragga, reggae, pop, etc.

^^^ what? several times

^^ yup, great for trips.

Most talented band ever? I mean, they could have picked probably 6 or 7 styles of music and been one of the best bands in that style if they wanted to

oh i know you were. but there are definitely a lot of bands who could do that. and once again im not taking away from them, i love the clash. a lot of people just happen to not record stuff in other genres.

I have a problem picking a "best" out of all the punk albums I listen to. Like, I like the Undertones album a lot, I love the Buzzcocks, I'll listen to London Calling and Give Em Enough Rope every now and again, but I can't single out any one of those, or others I didn't listen due to pointlessness...

It depends on your definition of Punk I guess, because a lot of this looks like pop, hardcore, ska, etc to me.

Classics for me are...
Misfits - Legacy Of Brutality
Exploited - Punks Not Dead
Dead Milkmen - Big Lizzard
Dead Kennedys - In God We Trust
Adolescents - Balboa Fun Zone
DI - Horse Bites, Dog Cries
Circle Jerks - Group Sex
Social Distortion - S/T
Suicidal Tendencies - S/T
Ramones - Too Tough To Die
etc

that no thanks box set is perfect for anyone with a little bit of interest in late 70s-early 80s punk. it doesn't go much deeper than the big guns, but it doesn't really need to. tons of essential jams on there.

<3

Static Age and Legacy are so close to being the same album...but American Nightmare just clenches it. Plus I have been listening to Legacy for 22 years now...and it still moves me the same way....that is hard to do.
