this is a serious question, because that's a pretty nice knife, but what is the law in NC surrounding something like that?
Like if I got pulled over for speeding, and a cop saw that, what would I be looking at?
Keep in mind, i'm brown-skinned

as far as nice auto's go, thats nothing. look up a microtech for example, if you can find one. or a custom butch vallotton.
Quote : | "i dont see any materialist differences between my kershaw and that one on the blade strength?" |
the short version is it comes down to how the materials are machined, how many parts it takes to make the knife, how much assembly is required, etc. obviously more on an auto than your kershaw, esp. an OTF. also your kershaw and this benchmade serve different purposes. one is utilitarian, the other is a backup, or for emergency use.10/1/2008 1:43:31 PM |

You're right, it's not a projectile knife. At one time, the NC statutes specifically banned "switchblade" knives, but I guess that's been removed.
However, according to(updated Dec 2007): [link]http://74.125.45.104/search?q=cache:ZwMyUo2n2HYJ:http://www.jus.state.nc.us/NCJA/ncfirearmslaws.pdf+nc+switchblade+law&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=5&gl=us&client=firefox-a[/link]
Quote : | " Federal law, found in 15 U.S.C. § 1243, prohibits the manufacture, sale, or possession of a switchblade knife. An exception to this federal crime is allowed for a switchblade knife with a blade three (3) inches or less in length, possessed by a person with one (1) arm " |

It should be designed to stop trying to open if it hits anything. I can't speak for this particular knife, but on all the ones I've seen the blade would disengage from the spring if it hit anything on the way out. So basically you can't put it against someone's stomach, press the blade, and have it stab them.

$300?! At least I'd imagine it actually works for that price, but you never know.
This is why I love Ka-Bar, their shit is awesome and it costs VERY little. I love my TDI and my Dozier Drop Point Folding Hunter. The latter is a $20 knife designed by Bob Dozier. The shit is excellent and the blade is quality and comes very sharp and it sharpens up quite nicely. It's a serious knife, I wouldn't want to be stabbed or sliced with it. I carry one or the other with me everywhere I go.
http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=318864
With the TDI, I have a few options as to how I carry it. I have the ankle holster, which is useful if I'm already carrying other weapons in my pockets. Otherwise I remove the belt loops from the sheath and It can easily be hung from a chain or I can just keep it in my pocket since I can easily get the sheath off one handed using just my thumb.
Now I need an M9 bayonet for my Mossberg 590.
So, where can you get a knife like this locally? I was looking and Benchmade will not ship these here if you aren't LEO or Military from what I can tell.

They are legal to OWN! illegal to carry unless a first responder. You are allowed to purchase it then carry it home. After that it is illegal to carry it outside your own property unless to sell.
