I would, but only if it was black with black rims, limo tint, and some nasty modifications. Stock for stock I'd go with the Bimmer.

I wouldn't buy it new. It's going to be a relatively common car with bad gas mileage that will depreciate quickly. You're better off getting a good condition older car that is past the steepest part of its depreciation curve. 10/8/2008 2:59:15 AM |

Interesting comparison. I'd probably test drive them both. I like handling though so I'd probably go with the 335i 10/8/2008 7:53:10 AM |

I have driven a Dodge Challenger, and they are really nice cars.
That said, dont let the Dodge Lifetime warrenty be a factor in your decision. That warrenty has alot of stipulations to it. You have to get the oil changed every 3k miles at a dodge dealership, you have to get all the recommended service done at the dodge dealership, and so on.10/8/2008 9:14:34 AM |

I'm a fan of it. It seems like it would make an enjoyable DD, especially with the lifetime powertrain warranty. I'd keep it stock (Other than an exhaust) and just drive the fuck out of it. 10/8/2008 9:22:41 AM |

Wont you be paying about $10k more though? Although I guess you could just snag a used one, but you still wont have the unlimited powertrain warranty, which would be nice with a DD. 10/8/2008 10:12:46 AM |

I don't trust dealerships, except higher ends like maybe Porsche, BMW, etc. Having worked at a domestic dealership and familiar with 2 others (I don't know how stereotypical they all are really...), I can say I wouldn't trust them to change my oil. Having to take my car in for everything to maintain that lifetime warranty and spend all that money? No thanks... I'd rather do my own work (ie: change oil, etc) and save the difference so that way when something does happen and I take it the dealership/respectable shop, the money can just come out of that pot. If the car is a DD and you don't abuse it, you shouldn't really have to worry about the lifetime powertrain warranty. Also, taking it to the shop, they can make mistakes and or even cause damage to your vehicle, thus costing you more time. Time is money though and there are too many viewpoints to argue this specific topic. I'm just saying lifetime powertrain warranty isn't worth all those stipulations. That's not a very good selling point on the car if I were to purchase it.
I think the 335 would be more practical as a DD. Cost aside, it's 335 hands down for me. Realistically between the two, I would hold out for a slightly used 335 over a new challenger r/t, like you mentioned. I think there's a less of a chance for that kind of car to be abused if purchased from a respectable owner...

The Challenger does look sweet tho. I think I enjoy looking at cars more than owning them...I get bored with any car after 6 months.
I went to a local Dodge and the badger was doing the "we've only got this one in, and who knows when more will come, you should get this one...." routine. I'll take a manual one for a spin when they get one to see how I like it. The car looked RIGHT. 10/8/2008 11:33:07 AM |

^ I hate that. It's always a "buy now" pressure. You can always request to order what you want for no extra charge, you just have to wait for it. The dealer locates costs extra though ... You shoulda shot the badger. they aren't even native to this state... 10/8/2008 11:38:49 AM |

However, couldn't you just use the 5.7 Charger stuff on the challenger?

^^ See, that's what is pathetic about people like you. You're so superficial that you think everyone defines themselves by their car. You obviously do since you think like that, which is (As I just said) pathetic. A car rarely says more than the fact that the driver of said car liked said car it enough to buy it (Or lease it), or they're borrowing it, or it was given to them, etc. People who define themselves by what they drive are absolutely pathetic.
That's why you'd apparently be embarrassed to be seen driving a corvette while I could care less. It's all about whether or not someone enjoys the car, not what you think the car says about them.

Can I help it if I like quality and aesthetics over garbage?
Even I know that a 335i is a much nicer car than an Evo. If i had the choice back then I would have gone with the 335i. There is a distinct difference right down to the details between BMW or most German automotive manufacturers vs. domestic/Japanese econo boxes. You can call it status all you want but that's just because you're ignorant and think a Dodge is the better choice. 10/9/2008 3:07:46 PM |

I don't know, but the problem is that you weren't talking about quality or aesthetics, you were talking about making inferences about other aspects of someones life based upon their car. In case you forgot, you made it clear that simply saying that one disagrees with the 335i being the only option means they also fit the following stereotypes:
