the funny thing is that sometimes i get heartburn so bad that i'm about to throw up... and the only way to stop it is to eat a huge spoonful of straight mustard

heh, acid doesn't neutralize acid. But it does cause your esophageal sphincter to close and keep the acid in your stomach instead of your esophagus, where it becomes a problem. I just watched a show about this.

Yep. Some kind of bbq (I think the South Carolina variety maybe?) has a mustard-based sauce. Not sure where you'd go about getting it...Red Hot & Blue used to have it. Not sure if they do anymore.
