Anyways, has anyone done the Jaycees thing. It's a hell of a lot cheaper, but is the quality reflected in that? 10/13/2008 11:44:32 AM |

Come on guys, I don't want to spend $25 dollars on something that sucks...there are like 5 different things, should we just do one and save the money if the other stuff is lame? if so, which one(s)?
Has anyone been to the corn maze? That is also pricey, but not as pricey, and it probably lasts a lot longer... 10/14/2008 11:43:44 PM |

I went to Fear Farm two years ago and it was so sucky. We bought a few of the attractions and they were crap.
I went to Boogerwoods in China Grove last year and it was SO fun. It's $15 but it's all donated to cystic fibrosis and so it makes you feel pretty good about paying a little more...
The lines were LONG but the trail itself took almost an hour to make it through. It was funny and scary and a blast. I definitely want to go again. 10/19/2008 8:47:36 PM |

I found the Woods of Terror much better than Spookywoods. This was back in high school though so things may have changed. That crazy 5 minute video to start makes you think you could get murdered in the woods if you are a sinner. 10/20/2008 8:43:52 PM |

i've been to ken's haunted corn maze... it is always a maze (during the day) but at night they make it "haunted"
last 2 times I went, it was not a maze at night.. certain parts were roped off and you couldn't go through. so it was more of a walk through than a maze. This was probably to keep people moving through and not just wasting time in the dark maze.
i don't know if they changed it but that's the way it used to be. 10/21/2008 4:52:56 PM |

Went to the Raleigh Jaycee's off Glenwood Friday night and it was a lot of fun. Only $10, which goes to charity, and it was well done. Not extremely long but the people there were entertaining and it was fun.
There's a $1 off printable coupon.
For those of you in Charlotte, some friends of mine are putting on "Scary Dairy" hayride at their dairy farm. From the sounds of it, it's going to be small since this is their first year, but Baskin Robbins is sponsoring them so you get free candy
Check it out in Harrisburg. 10/26/2008 2:24:58 PM |

I went to the Woods of Terror in GB this year and it sucked big time. It was ~$22 a person (we did fast pass) and wasn't worth it. From what I hear, it is hosted by a religious group. The tape that we watched was a story about some damn donkey thrown down a well who worked hard and eventually got himself out due to determination. Not what I expected for a scary mood starter and definitely not what I paid for.
On to the woods, I expected a dark creepy forest, but it was not the case. Since it was so "popular", they had bad teeny bopper music blaring to entertain those waiting. You can hear that crap in probably 25% of the forest, mostly killing the mood. Lots of lights in the woods finished off the mood.
In addition to that, they divide you in groups of 6. All of the surprise scares (like jumping out of a coffin or obscure pipe) occur at the very front of the line. So the last few (where I was) had very little in actual scares. Instead, the masked people jump out and scare the first group then spend the rest of the time violating the comfort zone of the last people in the group. They get within 2-3 inches of your face and follow along with you for a while. Its not so creepy in the "horror" sense but more in the "stop being so close that you are spitting on me as you breath" sense. And if you have hair longer than 5 inches, it will get caught in their overly elaborate masks.
The last part was a hayride which I was excited about because we actually were the first on it. Unfortunately, this time all the scares happened at the back.
Then, to add insult to injury, we couldn't find the exit once we got out. Apparently they had it behind the group of dancers that were performing (durr, fire codes?). We were told to wait until they were done. 5 minutes later, we just walked right past them.
Terrible terrible terrible.10/26/2008 6:45:25 PM |

I did Woods of Terror a couple of weeks ago and I enjoyed it.
I went to Spooky Woods last year. They had this whole redneck theme that was pretty lame. Those who went last year remember the SAW theme they had in the first house. This year, they got this stupid redneck house. It was terrible. The tram ride and the cornfield were ok.. not great. They had these camoflauge guys making these stupid noises in the cornfield. The final house, the castle, was better than last year to me. I got a couple of good scares in it. 10/27/2008 9:35:59 AM |
