with alltel steadily going down the crapper due to being sold to verizon, i'm definitely looking for another carrier, as well

verizon's cellular service is better than at&t, but hell if their customer service and pricing aren't downright awful

you know i came back to this thread to actually compliment their customer service.

not the instore all the time... but the customer service on their little hot line is on point.

quag if you decide to go verizion wait till november when the blackberry storm comes out...

then buy it at the contract rate... then trade phones with me and i will pay you

^ i have always touted alltel customer service as being absolutely amazing...and old girlfriend of mine racked up $550 in charges when we i was in europe (i'd call using skype, but she'd use her cell phone)...she just went over her minutes because of the time difference...we called up alltel and they retroactively changed her plan to a higher minute one, so she only had to pay an extra $30 for the plan, when really they could have just said "screw you"

ever since the merger/acquisition was announced, even small things are a pain in the ass to be dealt with (their store service is still great, it's the customer service via phone that blows donkey balls now)

but, i suppose, i'm used to being able to abuse the system and then have them correct it for me, so perhaps that's what i'm really complaining about

and i'm still stuck in my service for another year, so don't count on the phone thing

when that phone comes out i'm going to do some negotiations. it would cost 145 to get out of my contract. if i switch services i could probably make that money back. but i dunno what i want to do yet. she seemed pretty adamant about making sure to contact them to see if their is anything they could do for me before i decided to switch... hmmm...

My dad will have Tmobile as soon as the number is ported.

Which my mother requested last Wednesday. I FINALLY was able to talk to someone today, and found out that whomever she dealt with in the store never bothered to put in the port request.

So far, I'm less than pleased.

I'll be porting my number to them, for just over a month. (Since Sprint insists that my number must leave their system for a month, in order to simply re-assign it to another, existing line of service )

ha, the My Circle thing bit alltel in the ass. We always have a ton of minutes that are free because of it.

^^I'm not sure if it bit them in the ass. I only use about 10% of my anytime minutes, down from about 50% before my circle. many people are paying what they would without my circle. only those that are really wanting to save money and categorize their minutes, etc. would probably back down on their plan due to my circle features

But I typically don't get plans based on the airtime minutes. I based mine sms, mms, data, nights, weekends, mobile-to-mobile, # of friends in my circle.

I was reading somewhere that it put them in a big hole. Most people only call a handfull of numbers anyways and they get charged for calls to other networks. I wonder what will happen to the alltel commercials. haha. I'm gonna miss chad.

really? I haven't heard that. Were that many people going over on minutes and/or decreased their plan size to accommodate for my circle?

Well, their customer service is blowing my mind right now, and they don't even know I'm planning to get another prepaid phone with them.

also, I used 877-537-7389 to call, direct to a human (via gethuman), as opposed to to general number (phone tree) listed on their contact page. It's been glorious.

...Finally, I have my number ported to them.

After requesting it to be done wednesday evening. Surprise - they never bothered to contact sprint to do the port.
Wednesday, when I called to activate, AND when I spoke to primary (i.e., not pre-paid) customer service on my second call of the day (out of three) today, they both said 'yes, $.10/minute'. The primary customer service lady transferred me to prepaid, where when the agent said 'oh, no, it's $.333/minute!', I pointed this out, and he hung up on me.

I called back again, and I was just like, fuck it - I'll do the pay by the day. She starts to tell me they can't do that, and I interrupted her, told her it was my third call of the day, which is totally unnecessary, and to please fucking goddammit PLEASE switch my account type to pay by the day (which does for sure yield the $0.10 rate), all of a sudden, she COULD do it

After all this shit, I can't say I'd recommend them to anyone who doesn't have the patience of a saint.

Oh, and I'm not liking the signal.

US Cellular rocks.

I always have signal, even in my SO's crappy apartment where nobody else gets signal.

I have it, it's okay except I do not get much signal inside my apartment unless I'm standing by the window. I didn't have to worry about that with sprint.
