i know, i'm just saying. it's a position with a decent amount of responsibilities, but the pay is less than half of what someone qualified would earn, even part time.
they pretty much want you to do it all.
it's good experience, but if you stuck it out and made it over a year, i doubt the pay would get any better.
help desk/tech support/server admin/dev. lot of hats to wear.
[Edited on October 14, 2008 at 10:57 PM. Reason : though if you were a jack of all trades, THIS would be PERFECT.] 10/14/2008 10:56:19 PM |

yup
i'm pretty much a jack of all trades (and master of most ) - 27k a year is nowhere near what you could make in the market for a position like this - even in education...
i <3 ncssm though, so i can't really hate too much
i might be willing to do this on the side if the job description is accurate as far as time commitments go10/15/2008 12:31:51 AM |

I wouldn't mind it considering its closer to me than Raleigh, but the pay isn't that good - but hey its better than nothing. I went to NCSSM my Junior year and went back home right before graduation that year, got home sick and just couldn't deal with being away from my parents and not having any friends at the school. Wonder if they would count that against me knowing I was a former student who left at will? 10/15/2008 1:16:54 AM |

Not a bad job if you are still in school. Also, I don't think they expect you to have all of those skills, but rather a willingness to acquire them.

I love it when they do this.
This needs to be read as a trial full time position day job. Not for students. "Each position may become permanent, full-time with growth of the program."
They phrase it so they can get cheap help and fire whom they want. Quality help they try to keep but at low pay and horrible hrs. No offense to NCSSM but I see it all the time for IT work. 10/15/2008 2:58:10 PM |

^^ I wouldn't say all of them were, guess I was one of the quiet ones who didn't really know anyone though - I never had any problems with my wireless, but I was over on 2nd Beall and I was one of the people who worked on half of the laptops on the Beall halls
^ I hope so, I loved his shoes :p lol
