10/27/2008 10:47:16 AM
Dude, to keep christmas cheap, you have to start planning EARLY. Shit, I'm used to Black Friday being my mom's deadline last resort for Christmas shopping.
10/27/2008 10:49:07 AM
yall crazy
10/27/2008 10:50:07 AM
It's too early? I've been thinking about what to ask for and what I'm getting other people for a good while now. But I have been even more excited about the holidays than normal this year for some reason. And my parents always ask me way in advance what I want from them.
10/27/2008 10:52:11 AM
too early
10/27/2008 10:53:23 AM
10/27/2008 10:56:33 AM
At what point does one become too old to actually put together a wish list of gifts?I feel bad asking people to give me specific items for no reason at all.
10/27/2008 10:59:41 AM
dunno, but my fiance and i have decided that we aren't giving each other presents this year so we can spend money on our trip to florida after christmas. we're still doing stockings though.
10/27/2008 11:00:28 AM
My Mom like to have her shopping DONE by Thanksgiving...
10/27/2008 11:02:01 AM
10/27/2008 11:02:46 AM

10/27/2008 11:03:00 AM
women ruined Christmas a long time ago. It's October, bitch
10/27/2008 11:03:58 AM
10/27/2008 11:05:13 AM
You know, every single year I tell my parents what I want from them, and then I say, "PLEASE don't get me any other little doodad-type things that you just think are cute or whatever, because I already have way too much stuff that I don't need and really don't want to accumulate any more of it." Yet lo and behold, every single year ... little piddly crap shows up. Then I feel obligated to keep it. At least this year I'm flying back from Christmas so I have an excuse not to take extra stuff with me.
10/27/2008 11:05:55 AM
yeah i have the same problemexcept my mom forgets what she's already purchased.i've got 4 electric ice scrapers from eddie bauer.
10/27/2008 11:07:16 AM
Can I have one? David won't let me park in the garage
10/27/2008 11:07:54 AM
Good call.I'm pretty sure all I'm getting is socks and camera lenses. Maybe some drum-related shit. My parents luckily don't do that knick knack stuff, and when they do it is usually something useful.

i just have a fundamental problem with practicing the gift giving aspect of Christman, while not practicing the religous aspect of Christmas.Guess im weird
10/27/2008 11:10:17 AM
BUT GETTING SHIT IS AWESOME!

10/27/2008 11:13:36 AM
i'm gonna ask for a new computer since my laptop screen is busted and i currently have it connected to a 15" CRT compaq monitor but i dont see that really happening. so maybe i'll ask for an external HD and large ipod.
10/27/2008 11:16:00 AM
i've already gotten my birthday and christmas presents for about the next 5 yearsor at least until i can pay my parents backas for the family....they just buy what they want...mom wraps it....i pay them back[Edited on October 27, 2008 at 11:19 AM. Reason : it works for us]
10/27/2008 11:18:23 AM
I thought it was gonna suck having a job so more people expected presents from me and the people I already gave presents too expected better presentsBut I actually like spending money on peopleIts my one non-machiavellian trait

I always am fascinated by the presents I get from my 'fringe' friends and relatives who I don't see on a regular basis. You get the most miscellaneous shit from people who have no idea of your interests and preferences. Last year I got a kaleidoscope, an Orlando Magic sweatshirt and a gift certificate to Talbots.
10/27/2008 11:33:14 AM
i think i'm only getting 9 gifts this yearmomdadbrothersister-in-lawher son3 co-workersand maybe one friendbut that's itand they won't be nearly as nice as they have been in the past
10/27/2008 11:39:21 AM
it's interesting when your parents are split and you have to get gifts for siblings for both houses i generally coordinate the gifts though
10/27/2008 11:42:06 AM
I'd rather nobody give anything but their timeHanging out > shit
10/27/2008 11:43:19 AM
we just started the christmas spreadsheet this weekend - it helps me keep an eye on what i can spend (so i don't go overboard).i don't really want someone to give me a list of items that they would like - i think it's far more fun to find something that they would love or something they wouldn't typically buy for themselves. i love giving presents!
10/27/2008 11:44:24 AM
With most of my relatives, I would rather give them something than spend time with themAt about a 1 dollar = 1 minute conversion rate
10/27/2008 11:45:07 AM
my dad and i give each other beer"your gift is in the fridge""so is yours!""go open yours, christmas is silly, bring me one too""ok!"
10/27/2008 11:45:22 AM
silly? hehe...so hardcore.
10/27/2008 11:49:11 AM

i thought about getting my family each their own personalized leather journals, but all the ones i've found cost $50+ i didn't want it to be their main gift, just something cute on the side. i'll have to keep searching i guess.i'd really like a gps for christmas, or some cast iron skillets
