So I just moved to New York, and since we live out in the country, I ordered Vonage for my telephone service. Before I hooked Vonage up, I was using the internet through an ethernet cable. When the Vonage receiver arrived, I hooked it up, and it worked, but no internet connection (through the ethernet cable). I unhooked the Vonage and restored things exactly as they were before, still no internet. I have done all the standard rebooting/restarting shenanigans, and no matter what I do, I can not get my internet to work through ethernet. I did unpack my wireless router and hooked it up (through the Vonage receiver) and it worked just fine, and I can get on the net wirelessly. Does anyone have any clue as to why the ethernet connection will not work at all anymore? It's almost like my ethernet connection just miraculously happened to break at the same time I was installing Vonage. Thanks for any help. Below I have put my words into a flow chart.
Before Vonage (internet worked): [CABLE OUTLET] ---> [CABLEMODEM] ---> [LAPTOP]
Installed Vonage (Vonage worked, no internet): [CABLE OUTLET] ---> [CABLEMODEM] ---> [VONAGE] ---> [LAPTOP]
After Vonage Install (no internet): [CABLE OUTLET] ---> [CABLEMODEM] ---> [LAPTOP]
Now (wireless internet only): [CABLE OUTLET] ---> [CABLEMODEM] ---> [VONAGE] ---> [WIRELESS ROUTER] --->[LAPTOP] 11/6/2008 6:08:42 PM |
