I hear RPD has a shortage of cops, so now would be a great time to temporarily sell narcotics.

Lovely

Dear Candidate,

We are not going to hire you but please fill out loads of crap for this new service we are trying to get off the ground and eventually sell.

Thanks,

i think i'm secure. i've made myself pretty indispensable during the last 7 months. the university is looking at a 5% budget cut ($25 million) and there's a hiring freeze. but my boss loves me and can't function without me.

you're never indispensable.

developing this idea is actually usually a pretty poor career move to make.

you know

if you ever want a promotion

i've already gotten 2 "promotions" since i was hired. and i have over $5K higher than i can go in my career band. and my boss is intent on moving me up in the career banding in the future, since i'm serving as a "research associate/laboratory manager/laboratory animal coordinator" rather than the "laboratory technician" i was hired as.
i'm expecting a significant raise at my annual review, as long as the economy isn't still dead next may. but hey, i won't cry if it doesn't happen. not many people can actually say they LIKE where they work and who they work with.

executive compensation consulting is proving to be pretty recession proof which is nice. rich people need to know what to get paid regardless of what the economy is doing
