Relative car newb.

So I was behind a cement truck, and it took off as the light turned green, everyone got up to about 25 mph, and a bunch of concrete (probably about the volume of a basketball or two) spilled on to the distributor and then onto the road.

As we were in heavy, traffic I was forced to have my two right tires go through the stuff, making those hundreds of little pinging sounds.

There appears to be little cosmetic damage to the paint...didn't see anything obvious underneath...but should I be concerned about wet concrete having gotten into something like the brake calipers? I drive an IS300.

umm i would call his # and have him paint your WHOLE CAR.

nah, i wouldnt worry. you can wash it all off. hopefully you had a chance to. if there is significant damage, just get him to pay for whatever HE damaged

He's probably going to not be at fault saying he had a sticker that said "stay back 100 feet" or some shit. It was your fault that you followed close enough to get hit.

Not that I agree or disagree.. but good luck getting $$ from him.

Does wet cement typically dry within 100 feet while traveling between 25-65mph?

Putting a sticker on your car or truck does not relieve you of culpability for not properly securing your load. If I put a sticker on my car that said, "Not responsible for rear end collisions due to shitty brakes" it doesn't make it ok for me to rear end someone.

If there was damage, mechanical or cosmetic, contact the number, get his insurance company and file a claim. Chances are that the company he works for has insurance that covers exactly this kind of thing.

Some of you amaze me. How the fuck can you have an IQ greater than 70 and have to ask this question? 99% of the population is smart enough to know that if wet cement gets on your car, you FUCKING WASH IT OFF BEFORE IT DRYS! Please dont be like Wyloch.

WYLOCH I know it must have been lonely in the special class, but you did manage to learn enough while staring out the window all day to determine the following:

1. what cement is, what a truck is, and what a cement truck is
2. the volume of a basketball (or two)
3. that cemeny you ran over was WET

Now, the logical step for any self respecting person in this day and age is to research the calamity that has occured to them, and the background of the involved materials. SO- even if you didnt know that what makes cement WET is in fact WATER then you could have learned all about it via http://www.google.com or http://www.wikipedia.com . There is NO EXCUSE for not going to those two resources first before coming here and asking such a stupid fucking question.

Furthermore, if neither of those occured to you, or perhaps you could only log onto TWW and not those other websites, then driving your cement laden Lexus to a magical place called the LIBRARY would have sufficed. If the nature of your concern was solely related to the potential damage to your automobile, prior to consulting THE WOLF WEB a smart person will seek the advice of an automotive detailer or auto paint and/or body tech.

I had no choice but to run over it. I'm not going to stop 100 feet behind the truck at a red light (which we were at). Furthermore, when all of the traffic (truck, me, and others) are going 25 - 30 mph, and there is no way to switch lanes due to traffic density, I am not going to slam on the brakes, especially considering the pickup truck that was tailing me too closely (although, to your credit, I did not mention that pickup in my initial post).

ALSO, as I said, there was hardly any paint damage - it could very well have already been there, and was noticable only on close inspection. I also said there was nothing obvious underneath. This lead me to conclude that there was NOTHING TO WASH OFF IN THE FIRST PLACE. I have no clue how to came up with "cement laden," when I explicitly said I did not find any concrete on my car.

A+ for effort though. Really. That was one heck of a stupid post you made. Use your words next time...I know you can do it. Now fuck off.

Thanks to everyone else. I've noticed no anomalies since when driving. My (and most of the other posters') suspicions that it all got knocked off during the rest of the drive home appear to have been correct. Please don't be like optimusprimer.

fortunately/unfortunately he's at fault. it doesn't matter if we put signs on the trucks or not, they're not government signs and trucking co.s put them on there for the sheer hope that if you see the sign you won't call. of course you should have call the hp first, but you could still try.
