People have a right to free speech. I can't fault them for doing it in anonymity when there are others out there who would damage their property, threaten their livelihood, and attempt to hurt/kill them for it. Death threats against the president are already a crime and have been for decades. Hence the visit from the Secret Service, but that's not really relevant to this thread and you know it.

Do you really not see some striking similarities in the example in my argument? The message might be different, but the threats are very much the same. The freedom to express ideas, no matter how controversial, is still at the core of both examples.

^^^well the only reason this topic was made was because of recent activity...so it is relevant to this thread...

Everyone has the right to free speech...but everyone also has the right to oppose someone elses views. So therefore people getting pissed that someone used their consitutional right to spray paint mean and racist things in the free expression tunnel are doing the same thing.

But this is a matter of common courtesy. Just because you have the right to stand in the middle of the brick yard saying whatever you want, or you have the right to spray paint whatever you want in the tunnel, you even have the right to burn the American Flag in protest but doesn't mean you should do it.
Have some respect for your fellow humans in this world.

Most, if not all, actually. It's very ambiguous, even in Constitutional Law. Forgive me if I'm inaccurate (but it's been a few years since I reviewed any constitutional law) but the "fighting words" doctrine from the Chaplinski case was very broad and open to interpretation and even with the narrowing of what it means, it's very ambiguous.

Was the spray paint just a singular utterance of the word? Was it part of a phrase? I'm not 100% familiar with what happened and there is no real way to know the intent.
