I shouldn't have to reboot my DVR every damn week just to keep channels from disappearing. Customer service should be an hour wait or more every day for a damn week. Fix your boxes, fix your service, fix your damn software. A 10$ credit isn't good enough. I may just upgrade to the best RR I can, cancel my digital cable, and pirate everything I want to watch. I've tried doing it legally, but TWC you make it too damn hard to consistently watch what I want when its on, much less when I want. On Demand channels shouldn't just become unavailable after I watch a show, if it isn't available, its not on demand.Anybody had any luck getting better than a 10$ credit?

I'd demand another box. Just take yours into a TWC office and exchange it. No waiting on the phone forever...

tell them to give you an extra bundle of channels or your going to the dish. and tell them the box will be outside your door when they come to pick it up
11/17/2008 3:06:46 PM
just go get a new boxthis may be easier said than done in raleigh, i'm not sure. i have a twc office thats only a couple miles out of the way

I had the same trouble with the last box i had, and can they take the shows i've recorded and put them on the other box, and set it up to record what i want based on whats on my box already
11/17/2008 3:10:39 PM
No. So that sucks. But it does sound like a fucked up box to me...
11/17/2008 3:11:51 PM
just be glad you dont have cox cable

i don't see why they couldn't swap the hard drives, although that might be the problem to begin with. not sure if they can transfer it.i got stuck with a dvr box when i moved out of an old house and left town... got charged for the box so i ripped the hd out of it and put it in my computer. its partitioned in like tvfs and is a pain in the ass to access
11/17/2008 3:12:59 PM
that sounds pretty cool^
11/17/2008 3:14:22 PM
i thought it would be, but it was really a massive waste of time. i ended up repartitioning the drive and selling it

I've actually had the similar problems. One week the video feed was gone but the audio was there, the next week the channel kept skipping, at times it was several seconds of air time missed. In both cases I had to completely reboot the system to fix it, and this is the new box they gave me after their stupid mystro crap bricked my old one. I have actually decided to use my PS3 or an HTPC and just find websites like hulu to stream in the shows I want to watch and get rid of my cable altogether. I already dropped their crappy internet service for clearwire, if i need higher speeds again ill just go to earthlink or something.

Make sure you don't have any "favorite" channels because when you make a channel a favorite, it removes it from the normal place on the guide and puts it at the beginning, making you think it disappeared.Other than the crappy UI, the boxes don't seem to be any more crash happy to me... although I have one of the normal 8300HDs not the 8300HDC (which IS crap).

Yeah I just cant find the point in paying that much money when most of what I watch I can find free online. I've been seriously debating it for some time, and I think that I'll just be dumping it altogether within the next few weeks and going internet only for my tv.

the internet works just fine i've never had a problem with it here, and at home, any problem we had customer service took care of it within half an hour to within 24 hours(if a tech was needed), same for tv(which we only had a problem once though)but up here in raleigh i've had so many problems, first month it told me i wasn't subscribed to any of the channels i had subscribed for after 2 weeks of watching them, replaced the box, second month, lost all channels 2 times, rebooted each time, last month, lost channels, couldn't get up with them for a week, rebooted, same this month, asked for a credit this time though
11/17/2008 3:25:25 PM
Exactly. I dont even try to contact them anymore. I just try and fix it myself or ask for new hardware. When I dumped their internet I had tried for 3 days to reach them, rebooted the modem several times, gotten a new modem which I rebooted several times, and finally got through to them(online chat) and they insisted it wasn't a problem on their side. I knew it was because the lights were all solid on and not blinking. The last time this was the case they had taken down servers for maintenance, and obviously they had lost connection again and the people in India couldn't tell.Oh FYI. I went to their online chat (they have one for tech support and one for sales support). After tech support failed to fix the problem I went to sales support to cancel... wouldn't you know the same person came in the chat. Something tells me the tech support isn't too technical.

Last week we had problems with our cable modem going offline every half hour or so. Spent about 90 minutes on the phone over the space of 4 days. They schedule a service call. Then the next day they call to cancel is saying they knew the problem was on their end. Then someone calls to confirm the appt. "Ummm, someone called me earlier today to cancel the service call!". Person on the phone then runs through a full diagnostic because she doesn't trust the original techs. Way to go TWC, that is why my cable bill is so high, the ridiculous amount of wasted resources! I don't trust any of them f0ckers. Anyone tried ClearWire for internet? I remember seeing the adverts all over town about 18-24 months ago but haven't seen them lately.
