I'm in the market to see about purchasing an aerial photograph (20"x24", or at least 16"x20") of Main Campus. I've decided to start purchasing aerial photographs of the different cities where I've lived, and while I could get a picture of downtown, I didn't spend much time there - I want a picture of campus! I've spent a ton of time going through http://www.raleighskyline.com, but the title says it all - it's skyline pictures, not aerial shots. I'm also not looking for something that's a direct overhead shot like what you would see on Google Maps - I'd like something that's looking down at an angle.

I'd post an (old) picture that I have that isn't big enough to print, but TWW won't let me post any pictures right now due to storage issues. I know it's possible to rent a helicopter and get a picture done, but I have to believe that somebody knows a good place for me to order a print from that wouldn't involve getting a custom photo taken. Thanks!

Just scroll around using live.com's "birds eye view".

DPK, I'm definitely familiar with Live.com's "birds eye view." I think it's absolutely fantastic, and I seriously considered something like that if I was interested in getting a picture of an individual building. I don't know if the resolution would be good enough for a 16x20 or 20x24 print, or whether I could contact Live to get something in a higher resolution for printing. But I'd like to get a picture of the campus as a whole, and the birds eye view isn't nearly wide enough for that.

Justin, you do know me. I got out of the frozen tundra in MI, and have now relocated to the (slightly) warmer city of Pittsburgh. Congratulations on the recent nupitals!

Ronny, sent you a PM.

I completely forgot about posting the "sample" picture I have to Webshots. If I could find this picture below in a printable resolution, my search would be over.

.sid files ftw

They're very high resolution. In fact, I always complain that they slow down my computer when I have several tiles uploaded into Autocad.

http://www.nconemap.com/

Use the NC OneMap Viewer or go here:
ftp://204.211.239.203/outgoing/raster/local_imagery/wake2005/sid/

Latest orthos look to be from 2005 for Wake County.

I have a foamcore-board mounted aerial picture of campus, c. 1990ish

I, ahem, found it back freshman or sophomore year on a Bulletin Board in one of those science buildings ... withers, daniels ... and, ahem, asked if I could take it.

I've often wondered where it came from/who took it/what the purpose was.

^I actually know exactly what you mean.

What are they doing to there at the gym where the outdoor basketball courts used to be and across the street at the track?
