I didn't read the books because I hate books in first person.

But I liked the movie. It's definitely geared for teenage girls. But I liked the story line. It was entertaining. Kristen Stewart was a good choice. And Robert Pattinson acted well and was nice eye candy

I know I said it's geared for the young girls but I still was hoping for a little more than just one kiss. Maybe in the sequels?

I have absolutely ZERO desire to see this movie.

And all the media hype is REALLY annoying. Fuck this "phenomenon."

terrible movie. I LOVED THE BOOKS!! I agree about books in first person, there is just no need to make a movie. It makes all the details seem so forced when shaped in an adaptation. The Edward character was very good looking...not what I pictured but he was nice to look at. The Bella character was spot on in looks but Kristen Stuart is one of the suckiest actors I have ever witnessed in film. The portrayal of a vampire was soooo weak that it was very disheartening to me. Rob Pattinson has the look but he can't act the role a vampire for shit.

Plus...I was in a theater with a bunch of screaming teenage girls. That was def no fun. Wait till you can download it or it is in DVD form. Ken fell asleep for about 30 minutes. It did not hold his interest.

I would like my money back, please.

Someone left this book laying around at work and I read the back cover hoping to discover just what the book was since I've seen so many people walking around with it.

I was laughing after the first sentence of the book's description. It sounds like something a functional retarded homosexual would get a kick out of, just an awful premise and I would assume would insult the intelligence of all but the dumbest readers.

there is no definite archetype for a vampire. This is Christopher Pyke and Stephenie Meyer's adaptation.

So from what I hear, to kill them you have to dismember them and then burn the body parts.

That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

I loved the books, but the movie was THE WORST book to film adaptation I have EVER seen. It was laughably horrible. The two leads ruined any chance I had of liking it, the dialogue was terrible, and they changed significant portions of the book for absolutely no reason.

And who calls their significant other "my little spider monkey" or "my personal brand of heroin" ???

that part was a bit weird. i love you but i also want you eat you. and they keep bringing it up. You think that would be an awkward conversation and not brought up all the time. seriously i personally would look for love somewhere else.

Both the book and the movie suck. I only know about the movie via firsthand experience. The book I know of from my girlfriend. She seems to like it but everytime I flip through it I just start laughing at the writing.

"8: 40 p.m. The movie ends, thankfully. As the lights come back on you realize that not only is Leach the oldest person in the room, but he's also one of only two males in the entire theatre. "That was one of the worst movies I've ever seen," Leach says apologetically. It then dawns on him that the reason why he'd heard something about the movie was because it was based on a popular book that many teenage girls loved—girls like his daughter. "The thing that really concerns me is I think we had some guys who signed up to see that movie," he says as he files out."

Well put.

I am absolutely addicted to the books...they are really good...but this movie made me ashamed that I actually went to see it.
I could have a directed the movie better...no doubt in my mind.

Seriously? Most, if not ALL, current vampire stories give them super abilities. If they didn't, then they'd just be creepy old guys who bite people and never go outside.

I haven't read the book but thought it was actually pretty good. The girl I was with who had read the book kept commenting on the inconsistencies but overall she liked it too.

Also, If you're a fan of any fantasy that deals with vampires you might get angry at Stephanie Meyer's version of vampires.

^No, not really. It's a book that's steamy without sex. However, Bella begs Edward to have sex with her. But he won't, because he would crush her feeble mortal body. It has nothing to do with morals.

I've actually heard from quite a few people that the word going around is it's kind of soft-core Mormon propaganda. The author of the series is Mormon and there's been lots of connections between the book series and conservative values. Stephenie Meyer is known for paralleling her beliefs with her novels. I think the Time Magazine called her idea about abstinence, the "Erotics of Abstinence".

^on the contrary. It's all about morals. Or at least her morals show in her work.

Quote :
"The characters in Meyer's books aren't Mormons, but her beliefs are key to understanding her singular talent."

Course i haven't seen the movie or read the books, just what i heard.
