My grandfather reloads 9mm rounds for the Miami Springs Plice Dept, and I buy a lot of my ammo through him. He recently sent me 150 rounds of 125 grain 9mm Luger rounds (three 50 ct boxes), which I don't intend to use.

$25 takes all three, or $10 a box.

and I would assume that at 125 grain they are cast bullets.

150 rounds is a small pile, why don't you just go to the range for 5 minutes or so and shoot that shit up, and let us use ammo that we know will function, vs handloads from someone we have never met?

I'm just trying to recoup some of the money I spent on them. I don't typically shoot them, or I would be keeping them. My g-pa has been reloading rounds for probably 35+ years, and I have never had a misfire with one of his rounds. If it's good enough for the MSPD, it's good enough for me.

^When 9mm was $10 per box of 100 it was not worth reloading because you'd only save about $0.50 per 100 if you used comparable components.

With current ammo and component prices you save about $5 per hundred.

That's all assuming you don't attach a cost for brass (free 9mm brass is plentiful), your time, and the initial investment in reloading equipment (my reloading equipment paid for itself just by reloading 200 rounds of premium 308).


BTW, not to bust jetskipro's balls, but I wouldn't pay $20 for 150 reloaded rounds when you can get 100 rounds with new brass made by a business that carries enough insurance to cover my gun and my ass if the junk explodes for the same price.
It would help his case if he gave more info like bullet type (there are some 125grFMJ, but most as lead) and whether or not his grandpa owns a manufacturing business or if its just a side job.

My grandpa has been reloading for the Miami Springs Police Department for longer than any of us have been alive (most likely). Though he does this on the side, his reloads are thus far flawless.

The rounds are 9mm Luger lead round nose, 125 grain. 3 boxes, 50 rounds to a box.
