i've been with secu for years, and NEVER had a delayed credit on a personal (or any) check, whether i had 5 dollars or 500000000000000000 dollars in my account. but this past week, it's on.

i deposited a check on the 24th
it will credit december 10

i then deposited another check on the 27th
it will credit on december 5

the best part is that both checks have already cleared. i seriously think they have financial problems over there

i am still drawing interest on it, though. like a money market account at 1,7%

they are very financially sound - credit unions dont get involved in the crap that brought the other banks to their knees. im sure they have issues like every other bank with foreclosures, lower values of their mortgage backed securities.....but they wouldn't be paying the savings rates they are if they were having problems....besides its all insured

and the 1.7% was referring to the fact that if it was in a MMA it would be getting real money while i can't use it.

Huh? we use their MMA as our savings account, and can access that money pretty quickly any time we would need to. Just transfer it to your checking, and it's yours. Keep the account over 250 and you've got 3+%. No idea what you mean by 'can't use it.'
